Is Dawnguard worth it?

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 3:04 pm

I'm just wondering, is Dawnguard worth the twenty dollar price tag? I'm just looking for some opinions on the DLC.

As long as you are in the mindset thats its dlc not an Expansion ( compare shivering isles to knights of the nine) then yes.

Put it this way: how much more would you pay for vanilla Skyrim? Dawnguard has about as much play time as a non-RPG like CoD's campaign would have, IMO. (note I do not play CoD) Add that into Skyrim, it's about $20 worth.

To me, DG was about twice KotN's worth. Since KotN was $10, it makes since. It's not SI, but remember this is Skyrim's first expansion.

mmmyeah kinda.

Pretty much.

Yes.

It's getting there... as DGs themes and additions become part of the greater game and ergo "my world" I ask myself has it enriched my Skyrim experience?

Yes, it has... But that's speaking as somebody who had a long term vampire character and was pursing dark paths anyway, so the dlc announcment felt like christmas.
I have yet to play the Dawnguard side and I'm happy enough with the content I've experienced so far... if the Dawnguard stuff is roughly the same in terms of time and content as the vamp stuff then I've got my moneys worth for sure.

The content is really incredible, and I loved most of it.

However, the random vampire attacks in towns will probably kill your entire experience if you enjoy towns and cities. There is no way to avoid the purification of the NPC populace.

The destruction of Skyrim's populace is a massive drawback...

In my opinion it adds a nice amount of weapons, lore, armor, the new werewolf and Vampire lord perk tree is good, the remake of the vampire appearances also are a good change in my opinion and the new locations are stunning and great. So yes, its worth the money.

Can people please use the spoiler tags when necessary! I've already found things out here that I didn't want to (as I'm only halfway through atm).

Yes, it's gotten a bit out of hand.

I've deleted a bunch of spoiler posts above. Folks who keep doing this will be receiving a warning with suspension from the forum.

If you want to discuss spoilers, either use spoiler tags or take it to the http://www.gamesas.com/forum/196-dawnguard-cheats-hints-and-spoilers/.
