Even my kids hate the Thalmor :)

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 2:02 am

Just moved the family to Solitude to find out how they talked/behaved there. One of the kids wished they would let her into the Blue Palace. Guess I'll have to go talk to Elisif about that. The other kid said to me that she had seen a Thalmor and thought it looked scary. Yes, Runa, Thalmor can be scary. That's why I carry around this nice axe. :)

Nope I've seen them slaughter stormcloak patrols gangs of bandits with ease. The only time i've seen the thalmor run is when I cast a fear spell.

The only random thing that can challange a giant are older dragons.

Somewhat depends on your level. At higher levels Thalmor can take down a giant because they get glass armor and glass weapons. They also conjure higher level atronachs.

Her dad was. I think her mom died before the rebellion began.

Sofie's likely to prove a slightly sticky issue for me, since the only character I have who isn't a loyal Imperial supporter is my (relatively neutral) Khajiit, who has little interest in marrying/adopting anyone without whiskers and a tail.

But on the other hand, how can I leave her to freeze to death in the cold streets of Windhelm?

Words like that . . . I don't know . . . they just make me want to roll a Altmer . . . and you know, train up to something like 125 one-handed skill (because I'm on a PC and using Ely's Skyrim Uncapper) and turn him loose with a matching pair of glass katana's and a Ryunosuke Tsukue attitude.

Ah, the unsuspecting Skyrim world . . . the sun sets in bloody red haze as the final chapter of the Empire is written with his sword . . .

(Damn, I really want to do this now . . . do the Thalmor still treat you like crap you roll a High Elf? Edit: Apparently, it makes no difference. You'e still trash to them. Damn.)

LOL Yup, the Thalmor don't even recognize their own people! I'm playing http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9782 right now and I love that I can kill quite a lot of Thalmor here! :D =p It's a brilliant mod and you travel to the deserts and jungles of Elsweyr!!! :)

Unless there's a PC mod for that, you can't in the vanilla game. I agree, a glass katana would be pure awesomeness!

It is a mod for the PC. There are a number of really good katana mods for the PC, as well as some really good glass weapon mods.

Right.

Well now, what I'm about to say I'm going to say in the kindest way possible and with complete equanimity - may I suggest migrating to the PC?

I used to have a console, but I got sick of my games being finished . . . well, when they were finished. That was back in the Morrowind era and I'd finished the main quest, many of the side quests, and was completely sick and tired of looking at some of the ugliest people I'd ever seen in a video game.*** So I bought Morrowind for PC and IMMEDIATELY downloaded Better Bodies and Better Heads - and not a moment too soon. My eyeballs were starting bleed.

But I digress.

I'm sure there are any number of really good reasons to buy a console, including many games that simply don't make it to PC. I'll see one, every once in awhile, and think: "Wow, I wish I hadn't given my console to my nephew who is twenty-four, unemployed, and doesn't shower. The universe might be a different place today."

But perhaps that's the trade-off. (The game thing; not the showering.) You get any number of games that I don't get. I get 11,410 mods for Skyrim on the Steam workshop alone (as of this moment). And I'll give you that 9,900 of those mods are simply irrelevant to the way I play, the way I live, and the universe as a whole. That leaves me with 1,510 mods that add content to a game that will now never die - as well as a rather shnifty looking pair of glass katanas.

Something to think about if you get tired of pondering world peace.

I do have a PC, and it should soon have Internet (once I can get necessary security set up). But if I'm going to buy a PC game, I intend that it be one I don't have elsewhere. Because I'm impoverished.

Truth be told, mods aren't that important to me. My first exposure to them was a video of some sicko using a 'nonessential kids' mod, and I never quite got over that. Plus, right now I'm sitting in a comfy chair, in front of a 32" TV, and I manipulate my Skyrim adventurer with a purpose-built controller inctead of keys on a keyboard. So it's not all bad.

Well said! I have always been a PC gamer and I can't even imagine playing any other way. Especially since I've been a long time TES fan/player and I do LOVE our amazing modding community! Wow, the stuff they put out, it's mind-boggling and it keeps vanilla games new and fresh for a long, long time! :tops:

Oh wow, 32" TV sounds like you are very impoverished. Uhm, so you didn't wonder about the title when you downloaded the "nonessential kids" mod? =p LOL *rolls eyes*

To be honest, I dislike duplicating game purchases, too. I made the suggestion because mods add so much to a game - but as you noted, and I did in my previous post, not all mods add valuable content to the game. In addition, mod management can get to be a real pain in you backside, particularly while Bethesda is still updating the game. But right now I couldn't survive without an uncapper (allows my characters to continue to grow), etc.

The keyboard. Yeah. I can use a controller on the 17" laptop, but mostly I just use the keyboard/mouse combination. As you imply, it's not entirely satisfying. And the small screen is, well, small. That's part of the trade-off I was talking about earlier.

Edit: Another thing to think about is the number of games that allow and even support modding now. Most of the games I play regularly have been significantly modded from their original state, usually to add additional content.

Yes. It's secondhand. The original owners purchased a 50" 1080p flatscreen, so they gave me their smaller, low-def one.

*sigh* ... If you're going to quote a post, perhaps you should actually READ IT. I did clearly state that I was watching someone else's video, right?
