Can you really 'design' a house?

And with designing I mean choosing every room to be this high and wide and make buildings in the form of castles, forts and entire farms and fortresses?
I have seen a vid or two on YouTube from people who have this game already but from what I saw you could 'only' choose between pre-designed locations for rooms.
I haven't see how see put the furniture in her rooms but I do hope they don't habeas a pre-designed space but you can place them yourself more... you know; Sims style.

Nope, everything is pre-designed, you just build it. The only choice is the wing types and to build or not build certain furnishings. You cant place furnishings etc, where you want.

Don't let this put you off, even though the design can't be edited it's still very enjoyable collecting materials. I just built the biggest house possible with my richest character to see what it's like but I'm going to load up a poorer character and have to work to collect items etc.

STOCK UP ON IRON ! You need loads of it.

Oh, but it won't put me off. I just wanted to know so I can drop that house design with Dark Brotherhood and Dweller museum I had in my head.
I love this game too much to not buy anything Bethesda will throw at us.
I'll go for the biggest house though and are how far my imagination will be limited. :)

Yeah I think it will be more rewarding with my poor character, don't have anywhere near enough money to buy resources unlike the house I'm building just now. Just threw about 25k at it as i was in a rush to see the completed look. So it will feel very rewarding building it as a poor character. looks fantastic when it's complete, plus the addition of a tower is really cool because you can look out onto the lake. A lot of people didn't like this idea for DLC but it's been brilliant.

Indeed it is. Not everything ha to be about fighting. My Pacifist character will love this, Haha!
I hope this will be the first DLC of more to come designed about economies and expanding your land and eventually your empire.
But I am heading too much off topic now I'm afraid.

I agree with Goldfish, I never expected much for customization, especially for $5, so i am really enjoying it. I am the same as Goldfish in that I just bought everything as my characters have alot of money. I am really looking forward to utilizing this add-on in a new playthrough where money is tight and I will have to build slowely.

Well my new character is an "average Joe" build as I like to call him. He's a regular guy tring to become rich through honest work, can't commit any crimes except hunting animals which counts as an assault on the crime stats, and doesn't do any guild quests etc. so that will be rewarding because I will really need to earn money and collect my resources rather than buy them. Until then I'll be eating cabbages and sleeping in a hay stack. I really hope for a campsite addition through an update. I just think it would be cool. But from my rich characters view the house is looking amazing after all upgrades are in.

Can you choose between styles of house? Like a Village looking home (think Riverwood house) or a Solitude home? Does style change with location? If you are in a guild then can you hang their banners?
