In-Mission Stats (Detected)

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 11:21 am

Could you please incorporate an in-mission stat page?

I've played level three 4 or 5 times trying to ghost through it. No NPC's ever have alert icons but I somehow I keep getting detected. These missions with side quest are long. It can be a pain playing through the same one over and over.

An in-mission stat page or some notification saying you've been alerted would be great.

Please incorporate this soon.

By the way, incredible game. Thanks.

Would be nice.... certainly would help with getting frustrating achievements, where you could easily be glitched out of getting credit.

+1. I've had to replay missions a half dozen times already for various reasons. An in-game tracker would be... phenomenal. Preferrably a more accurate one as well, since it seems the 'kill' and 'detected' stats are not infallible.

Agreed this would be a great feature to know if you have been spotted or have killed anyone during the level. I believe there are other games with this feature as well so hopefully it will get implemented.

A note to everyone: I emailed ZeniMax Media about this issue. I understand nothing will probably happen from it, although it may help if others did it too.

For some reason I cant post links, just copy and paste and take out the *. ww*w.zenimax.co*m/contact.htm

You can also get there by clicking Arkane Studios in the right corner of this webpage, then on contact us, send us a note, and finally send us an email.

I'm glad people are supporting this. I really hope they add it soon.

It would be nice if the mission stats screens displayed your High Chaos and Low Chaos results instead of your last run. I redid the last three missions for High Chaos (didn't work) and now it displays my High Chaos stats...

I support this.

Just a simple "Achievement failed" + name of achievement (Clean hands for example) would help SO much.

same here! I was about to highlight this in my review, glad to know not alone in this thought

seriously this feature is needed and hopefully incorporated in a patch! a notification for detection and even kill and stats in pause menu or something (after playing the long mission 2 several times couldn't understand where I got detected and so far thats the only mission where ghost not fulfilled.

Also in a mission I accidentally killed just 1 hostile (used a bolt instead of a sleep dart) and realized that after the entire mission got over :/ didn't replay it first want to complete the game and story, so 1 hostile killed so far in the entire game (ok I also killed the torturer so that makes 2 in the whole game coz of this since I'll have to replay for clean hands anyways) won't make any difference except for the achievement :/

so yeah highly recommended notifications/stats for kills/detection hope the devs take notice!

Yes, we need in-mission stats, or even achievement invalidation notices! I will email them also.

I so need this. I am trying to do Clean Hands + Shadow but at the end of the Coldridge mission I always have 1 kill which is RIDICULOUS BECAUSE I HAVEN'T KILLED ANYBODY! I need to know where I messed up and remedy this! I've done the mission 6 times and it hasn't worked for me, and I'm really annoyed. Please Arkane, fix this.

Raixir, I had the same. The end stats said I killed someone in the first mission. But I have no clue who, because I took great care not to kill anyone.

So yes, it would be great to have some kind of warning or accessible stat sheet during the mission.

Could not agree more. An in-mission stats page is sorely needed; was quite surprised to find that there wasn't one tbh, as there's quite a lot of things to keep track of if you want to strip the mission bare.

+1 :mohawk:

A warning for breaking such achievements as Ghost and Clear Hands would be great. Just to calm people like me that there are no hidden bugs/glitches failing their efforts (Like for ch. 7 issue with Granny or "sleep dart kills"). It would be very helpfull for taking all the fun the game could give while staying away from negative.

There is a sound associated with causing an alert. So, even if you don't see who you alerted, there is a sound to let you know you have been detected.

The same thing happened to me as far as not killing anyone, yet the stat sheet after the mission said I had. After a couple of more tries, I figured out that when you store an unconscious body at an elevated position, if they fall off, they die (even from a relatively low height). After that, I always stored the bodies in a waste bin and had no further problems. I got the Ghost and Clean Hands achievement at the end of the game.

Main problem lies in the fact that sometimes, even the mission stats after you're finished will say you're elligible for Ghost and / or Clean Hands, although you aren't. I guess whatever they put in the game to do the bridge between Dishonored and Steam for the achievements is not working very well. Or maybe it's just in the game itself.

Yeah, Granny Rags, Slackjaw, I'm talking of you.

Also, it may be possible that "restarting a mission" while on the final stats of the mission count as replaying it from the main menu rather than actually reloading the progress. It's not very clear yet, but if it does indeed work this way, it's lame. One would assume the most logical thing to do when attempting a Ghost playthrough would be to restart the mission when the stats say you're not doing well.

Other than that, having to re-do a mission to get the ghost / no kill is fine by me - just have accurate post-missions stats. We can already check if we killed people ingame by hovering the cursor on the body. If you see "unconscious", it's okay. If you just see the name, ie "Overseer", he is dead and you're not good. Also, no snoring = dead. ( can't remember if the weepers snore, though ).
The detection thing is kinda harder. There are sounds ( I always play without the UI helpers ) but it's hard to distinguish which is which. Best bet would be to check if the guards are running around with the sword in the hand, civils are covering in fear, etc ( detected ) or if they are just walking around, looking at places they wouldn't normally look at, sword in hand ( they think they saw something, but they aren't sure ). I agree though that you haven't always got time to check their status :P

The two only "non bugged" way to have one kill I can think of is by leavig the two guards too close to the door you have to blast open with the explosives. Even putting them in the garbage container will kill them, I think. Just stash them in (or on) the opened container near the first door and you should be good to go.
And in the sewers, don't try to hide the guards in the water : that's an immediate drowning.
If you also got a found body, then they probably got eaten by rats and you have to hide the body better than that - they can be in plain sight as long as the rats can't get up to them!

the freaking rats can find the body? I thought the point of them was to get rid of the bodies

Well sure, but that's a kill then!
I may be wrong about the fact it also gives a body find, but anyway found bodies won't count against the "no detection" stat and any relevant achievement like Shadow. It will DEFINITELY give a kill and count against Clean Hands and Ghost though !

In the first prison mission i kept getting a kill and couldnt figure out why.
Replayed like 10 times only to find out that the body i dumped in a dumpster and closed the dumpster lid right before blowing the doors with explosives was being killed.
Curiously, if i myself hid in that dumpster, i took no damage, so i never guessed a sleeping NPC would die in there.

So yeah, I'd love to see an in-mission stats option, so i dont waste my time so much.

Still no reply from ZeniMax Media, although I'm not surprised. If anyone finds a mod or has more information, please share. I'm not playing anymore until this changes. I'll probably never beat this game lol.
