Hearthfire needs a patch

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 9:51 pm

Yo i know am the 1000th person to make a thread like this but i just want to get it out there that hearthfire needs a serious patch because for all the people who are for the empire and killed helvard are pretty much screwed and ive already done all the favor quests before hand. So thank you for reading this thread and please help people to be aware that we cant buy the falkreath plot because of the previous things whe have done.

I am surprised it did not come before the Dlc.

Whatever i am sure they will have one soon, like any other games with a title update before DLC

A console patch costs about 60k. It's not worth it considering you can build on the other sites or just use a different charracter

You made your choices, now these are the consequences.
This has always been how TES games work.

Build it with another character.

Yes because i can read into the future and predict what the hells going to happen and others are able to buy it from nenya after they do a quest so its a glitch not a choice

Ugh please this is not choice and consequence. This is bad programming.

Doing X quest before Y quest = house not available
Doing Y quest before X quest = house available

That glitch only happens after you bought the furnishings. Its superficial. The other ones are minor, and easily avoidable.

I don't own the DLC but from what I can gather the Jarls sell you the plot just like the other regions sell you a house. However the Jarl in Falkreath may have a bad disposition with you due to certain quests. If the disposition is bad they wont sell you the plot.

Siding with the Stormcloaks replaces the Jarl with one who wont have bad disposition and will thus sell you the plot should you have done a certain quest AFTER another.

The exact details

Spoiler
The Jarl will have a neutral disposition with you initially. It can be raised by doing the quest Rare Gifts and lowered by doing the Dark Brotherhood quest to kill his bodyguard. Whichever of these you did last will determine whether the Jarl likes you or hates you.

If you did the Dark Brotherhood quest last and he hates you there is a workaround which is to side with the Stormcloaks and have the Jarl replaced with Dengeir who will most likely NOT have a bad disposition with you.

It makes sense that a Jarl who doesnt like you wont let you buy property in his land.

My character currently playing sided with the empire, and he killed the housecarl, he had no trouble getting the land. You buy the DLC and cannot work out how to get past an unfavourable Jarl, there is nothing preventing play with a new character.

Well do not complain when that one character did something that prevents them getting something. I have yet to be convinced there is no way to get the land anyway.

To be fair, everyone has put 300+ hours into a character. And many have also started new characters. This is how you play these kinds of games and why they are specifically designed to be replayed.

Strange I've completes the legion quest line and still bought the falkreath plot, didn't like it too much and built in the pale. So I'm assuming this glitch only affects a small minority of legionnaires.
