Hearthfire could have been (could be?) so much more.

I like the DLC okay, but...

You know it feels like they lost a huge opportunity here. Imagine this scenario.

The Dovahkiin goes back to adventuring after building a manor for his family. In his absence, he fails to learn that the speed and skill with which he built his home has attracted a lot of attention. After selling some loot in town, he is approached by a courier. Once again, the Jarl of Falkreath summons you. The Jarl and a group of merchants and property owners who were until recently residents of Helgen have heard of your abilities. To be blunt, they want the Dovahkiin to rid Helgen of the bandits that have taken up residence in the ruins there and then rebuild Helgen from scratch. You could choose from a number of styles of various costs and complexities. You could have an open and inviting town, or a walled up fort to protect the people from further dragon attacks. You could even put in special structures to attract individuals like yourself that could protect the town in times of need. Perhaps an Arcane tower that works in concert with the College of Winterhold. Or a barracks for new initiates to the Blades or Companions to train and spread their influence. I could even see an underground fighting arena with skylights for the citizens to view the combat. So many possibilities opened up because of this crafting system.

Maybe I'm still bitter about not being able to rebuild Kvatch.

The last sentence made me laugh. Good to see that I am not the only one with the Kvatch thorn still stuck in his side.

I'd like to see Helgen rebuilt as well.

Rebuilding Helen is something a lot of people want. By itself I think it would be a bad dlc but maybe if they add shop ownership in it would be better.
Anyway I think that they already had the majority of Hearthfire made per release but because of the 11/11/11 date hey didn't get to finish it.

I like this idea - I think I'd have paid more for it. It'd have been a throw back to Morrowind to - build a stronghold, hire people to fill it up. But they could've expanded on it and made their own thing.

Hell, I'd have been happier if all of the three homes currently were different - not just copy and pastes of each other. Have the building structured differently. Have one's library not be the exact replica of another's. Have a master bedroom (I specify this so no one points out the small rooms already upstairs) have the option of being upstairs instead of always being in the exact same spot.

Um, Not for a 5$ Dlc to distract people for a while when they do the BIG DLC that may or not be Rebuild Helgen
