Underwater - can't see a thing

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 10:45 pm

So, I don't know how long my game has been like this as I'm not in the habit of swimming, but a few times lately it's been a necessity and I've noticed something: I cannot see a thing underwater. It's not murky but still usable... as soon as I'm under the surface, it's just a solid color (varies depending on light conditions). The only mods I have that might affect this are W.A.T.E.R. and Skyrim HD textures. Suggestions and solutions?

This is usually a driver issue, so you'll want to look there.

Well, the computer is less than 3 months old, so I would think the drivers would be up to date... Also, I know for a fact that the game has not been like this the whole time. There were times before now that I was underwater and seeing just fine. It's just been a while since I've had to swim.

I have a Radeon HD 6870 video card, if that matters at all. At a quick search, the most recently released drivers were put out months before I started using the computer, so, yeah...

You could open the file

c:\Users\\Documents\My Games\Skyrim\SkyrimPrefs.ini

and change the line

bDoDepthOfField=1

to

bDoDepthOfField=0
