omg dawnguard also has the recurring missing geometry bug

http://www.product-reviews.net/2012/06/26/skyrim-dawnguard-under-map-glitch-appears/

This is the missing geometry bug users of my mod and other mods have been reporting for ages.

The only solution was always the user had too many mods, and removing some fixed it.. The moonpath caused this loads, even the esm version, so i always assumed it was a load issue where the mods where running over the allocated cache amount . and questmods being the largest memory wise they caused it most often..

Well it seems dawnguard is the largest possible mod,, and causes it on the xbox..

Maybe now they'l fix it..finally..

its ironic the modding communit has been reporting this for a long time.

anyways thumbs up if they fix it for us as well

Recurring missing geometry: by that you mean the Disappearing Statics bug, right?

If so, this is actually good news for modders, because this one is going to move pretty high up the priority list if Dawnguard is falling victim to it.

yup it looks like it, seen videos of random dungeon statics missing, and a piece of ground in whiterun.
i agree if it moves up the list that would be good

I'll gladly defend Bethesda with some bugs because of the scope of their games, but surely it must have been noticed in testing

Yeah I'm kind of thinking the exact same thing... I certainly understand how so many bugs get through, but how did they not notice half of their game disappearing?

That makes me think that either the reports are false and Dawnguard doesn't have it, or that it's just a really really tricky thing to fix.

For what it's worth, in my entire playthrough of the Vampire side of the campaign, I never saw this problem. I know I'm just one data point but the problem could also be difficult to reproduce in Dawnguard.

The Disappearing Statics bug is already difficult to fix in and of itself, because it strikes at random and there is no reliable means of tracking the source because of that randomness.

I agree its probably hidden deep in the engine.. although sometimes with these things its a matter of a some allocation being to low.. its obviously not loading statics.. but also had reports of npcs going missing.. and even scripts.. so my guess if they have a long hard start at the esm/esp loading sequence it should be fixable..

the fact that for some users its reproducable with exactly the same statics , and that when they disable random mods stuff starts working again, that should be a significant clue

So first they got rid of the cool and unique look (IMO, anyway) of Argonian and Khajiit vampires, and now this? They better patch this thing up, or there's going to be a big problem.

Hmmm. I wonder. Is this actually the same thing? Anyone who can reliably see this on PC, try this.

In Skyrim.ini, add the following to the [General] section:

iLargeIntRefCount=999999

Then go back to somewhere that's reliably displaying this problem. Report back on the results.

Well here's two points. In 12hrs of play so far I've not noticed any missing statics.

But it also begs the question; Will modders be able to fix it if it's happening on consoles too or is this a deep engine bug?

If its showing up on Xbox that just proves it's an engine bug. If this is the classic missing statics bug, the workaround for it on PC is to set the full LOD flag. Overuse of that can degrade performance though. There would be no such workaround on the XBox, which would more or less force them to fix it.
