Question About Napkins. Yes, Napkins.

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 2:09 pm

If there was one thing I could change about the game mechanics, it would be the item placement issue where everything is held upside down and backwards.

A close second would be the option to get rid of napkins, deer skulls, forks/knives in the basic houses, and whatever other junk I can't pick up and move. I've tried using a ring to push stuff on the floor and hide it away, but all this non-interactive stuff resets after a time, pushing away or over the stuff I'd manually set in place.

Anyone have any strategies that work for getting rid of this junk?

It would be nice to be able to move everything, then we could get rid of the unwanted clutter.

Drop the item, leave house, re enter, pick it up (don't let it go in your inventory) and place it. Leave then enter again, it'll stay there forever.

The drag item system on the xbox is aggravating. I do have to agree why do the developers have to make everything hang upside down?? I always have to wildly swing the object hoping it will turn upright, then place it where it needs to go, and normally wrestling with the object. Then something gets botched up and have to start all over.... :swear:

I feel your pain. Honeyside had two ugly forks that I couldn't get rid of. Hjerim doesn't have much unwanted clutter, but there is a rag of some sort on the corner table, near a lantern, which prevents me from really putting anything there.

This doesn't help xbox users much, but all unmoveable items can be removed with the console command "markfordelete" which is great for making your house nice and tidy.

In a glitch that's popped up since getting Hearthfire, I run into several instances where - if there are multiple items on a table in some areas, and I take one - everything else on the table in untouchable. I can't knock them off, I can't pick them up. I can swing my sword, jump up and down on the table... and they don't move.

Argh.

I never understood that 'Everything shall be upside down from this day on'-thing, especially bottles. Why?

Any advice how to properly place stuff? I can only think of randomly slamming stuff against the walls hoping it will turn.
