Can Anyone Confirm?

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 9:02 am

Ok so I've read a lot of different experiences in regard to house stewards not furnishing homes when they are paid in gold for the work. Some individuals have reported instantaneous changes while others state it took a few in game days to weeks to have any furnishings pop up.

As for myself, I have yet to get any furnishings in any house to start appearing so my question is this for someone to do and confirm one way or another as I am at wok and unable to do so...

If they are failing to appear for you, try deleting the Hearthfire DLC in your Xbox memory on the hard drive then re-downloading and loading up the most recent save file where furnishings haven't appeared yet. Does this resolve the issue and make everything finally appear?

The book tells you to be careful choosing a Steward.

Were you not careful?

I find your lack of faith disturbing, admiral.

Azrael, I want to see if the glitch can be resolved by manually reinstalling the DLC and although your comments touched on an underlying irony, it doesn't answer the problem many of us have been experiencing... Is this possibly fate paying us back for a lazy approach to internal decor? Perhaps...

Hey, the DLC only came out on Tuesday and though I've been svcked in I've only just begun to furnish the small cottage.

So from my perspective it was not an attempt to be snide, but a serious suggestion

After all, I'd just read it in the "how to" book.

I furnished Lakeview Manor myself and am still waiting for some things to turn up, another couple of months they might eventually show.

It took a few days for my Steward to furish the rooms.

Also, I don't think it matters who you have as your steward, as there is no way to determine which one is better than the other.

I furnished everything myself. It's not that bad though I had a stockpile of iron when I was leveling smithing. I have yet to find a steward.. I never used followers so I'm not familiar with any of them. I want someone that can actually defend my home.

From what I've read, you want to know your steward's max level. Someone that caps out at 25 isn't going to be as useful as someone that caps at 50 or doesn't cap at all. Though I'm not sure if your follower will power level to their cap if you are beyond it?

How does that affect your house? I do not use followers for battle, they just get in my way. My steward stays at the house.

I also didn't use followers, until my Dovahkiin met Serana... She's probably *the* best follower in the game. When my character retires (=all DLC done) and moves her family (Ysolda+kids) to her new house, Serana(*) will be their guardian

(*) After she cures herself of vampirism first as we don't want her feeding on the kids now, do we?

When your house gets attacked by a giant, a level 25 steward will get squashed faster than a level 50.

Also if you pick a non essential character, they can actually die (not fall on one knee and recover).

Can those stewards still function as a follower? I mean, all of them were one before right?

Pretty sure you get only one chance at it, so you better look after your steward.

Yes you can still take them with you, if they are Companions you can still get quests from them

I can also confirm now that it has taken me a few in game days but rooms that I asked my steward to furnish in the lake view manor have begun appearing. I have not touched any room except for the entrance room for my home there and I am waiting to see how many in game weeks and days it will take for the steward to completely furnish one house for future reference.

I'm assuming at least two to three full in game weeks
