What's up with the Stables?

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 10:48 am

I have an empty stable, but am I supposed to buy myself a horse and move it in or is that the steward's job?

Also, I saw in the trailer you get a carriage too, to take you to any major city in Skyrim. Two questions about that:

1. The steward supplies this too?

2. Can you now take the carriage to your own home(s), or just the nearest city?

I've seen on YouTube that you will ask the steward for every animals you want on your little farm house. That include horses as well. Okay, one horse per Dovakhiin that is.

I built the stables and went to Whiterun to buy the horse but Dawnguard had killed the vendor.

So I went to Markarth to buy a horse and rode that back.

I don't have a steward yet but the horse is very handy for making trips to town or foraging for other supplies.

Slowly expanding the house.

The sad part is that the horse will not park itself in the stable. Even if you put it in there, when you come back, it will be standing outside the stable. It's just for cosmetic purposes which is sad. I was hoping it would house my extra horses, Shadowmere and Frost. I ride Arvak.

All the ones the steward's provided stay in the stable fine for me, Shadowmere stands outside the stable. That could be because there is not enough room in there for two, I might try her on the Windstadt one which is more suitable for two horses. And you are meant to park the horse in the stable, where are you dismounting?

All those horses the stewards supply will also quickly return home if you desert them for another horse.

I tried to dismount inside the stable. The Windstad one is really small, for one horse and perfect fit only. The game doesn't even allow me to dismount inside unless I just take up all the room. I suppose it's for the horse that is purchased from the steward even though I haven't tried. Thumbs down on that one.

You can replace them when they die too, both stewards and horses. Which is nice :)

So you replaced a steward? Seems unlikely to me, you cannot replace housecarls, why would we be able to replace a steward?

Although I tried Shadowmere in the other two stables, again she would not stay in there, so I gave up and left her out in the cold.

For all horse questions. As it stands the only horses that house themselves inside the stables are the ones bought through the steward for that particular house. Any other horses that you have will wander around the house if you fast travel..... Lets end this forum

Haven't had to do it myself, but it makes sense. Housecarls are assigned to specific properties. A steward, on the other hand, can be pretty much any follower you bring to the house.
