Who should be my Steward?

I was thinking Lydia then remembered she is guarding Breezehome, then J'zargo or a mage of some sort. Who did you chose?

I chose the chick you met in the halls of the dead in Markarth for the Namira Deadric quest. She will still comment on me being the champion of Namira and she can handle herself in combat.

Since my housecarl at Windstad Manor is a mage, I put Calder as my Steward since he's melee based. I did give Valdimar an enchanted ebony beat stick as back-up.

I wanted seperate stewards to housecarls as I thought it is a stronger team if I get attacked

I tend to employ a female staff.

I used
1. The Imperial soldier lady in Windhelm docks at the East Empire Company
2. The lady Mage from Darklight tower. The quest where she fights her mum.

3. I got lost for choices here. I wanted someone strong and ideally female. I looked through the choices and eventually chose "?" the unbeaten from the pub in Whiterun (fist fight quest). She's turned to be a good choice as she looses the macho talk as a steward and becomes a polite servant / staff

Illia. Great choice. She's my steward as well. As she's still afflicted with that annoying bug that makes it impossible to reacquire her as a follower, this at least puts her to good use. On top of that, she doesn't come with annoying "banter" dialogue. Just "Good morning/afternoon/evening." or "What do you need?" and that's it.

Originally, I'd selected Annekke Crag-Jumper as my steward just for the RP value in having my mother-in-law as my steward, but she wouldn't shut up about her husband being a milk-drinker as well as the tree growing out of Eldergleam Sanctuary just "norheast of here." (she evidently didn't realize she was no longer living in Darkwater Crossing).

Question about this one: If she can no longer follow you, how do you get her over to the house to ask her about a stewardship?

Woah! I just picked the housecarl that was coming with the place. If (actually when because it seems to happen to me quite often) the place get attacked, one dovakin is plenty to get rid of pretty much anything ;)

The housecarl of Falkreath IS a woman. Beside my wife is a lovely orcish lady. I'm not quite sure the random guy would be interested in her in the first place. And even if he was, I'm pretty confident if he tried anything I'd find his broken body on the porch ;)

She can be made a follower upon completion of "Repentance." Simply finish the quest, recruit her, then take her to your selected home and appoint her as your steward.

The bug associated with her is a strange one. Technically, you can dismiss/reacquire as often as you'd like, at least initially. But once you quit your current game or reload (which is inevitable at some point), the bug kicks in and she can no longer be reacquired if dismissed.

Anyway, I quite like her as my steward. She doesn't have annoying pvssyr and she's a nice contrast to Rayya. The hack-and-slash Redguard and the Imperial mage. They fight together nicely during house assaults.
