Bethesda, You finally did it RIGHT

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 1:56 am

Just saw the screen shots, i would dare say this might be the most awesome DLC for skyrim.

Bethesda finally woke their senses up and came out this amazing DLC that is getting praises from other forums.

Cant wait to play this.

You guys should really re-release morrowind with updated engine and i will swipe it off the shelf any second.

Thank you.

I am actually really happy with the DLCs so far, but yes, I am quite excited about this too.

dawnguard is a miserable side quest even tho it is good. The idea itself isnt interesting.
hearthfire, forget about it. adopting children.. what makes this idea interesting at all is out of my ability to understand

I remember the good old days when DLC has volume, content, depth.

Nowadays DLC simply means 1 side quest, 1 house, 1 boss to kill. it is really wrong.
Not to mention player fans have been requesting and requesting and requesting to visit places yet to no available to the point it seems like bethesda ignores fans and just do their own things in whatever they want.

this dragonborn is very good because it ties in to the story, lore, fits in to what a DLC content should be and the principle idea is good.

people might not buy DLC just to kill vampire, or build house.

but i believe many and i mean many people who have played morrowind, will disregard their pockets just to be able to roam part of morrowind again.

From the pictures, it seems there are MANY places to go, even if it is just a 5 min thing. the nostalgic experience is simply priceless.

Hearthfire added depth to the overall game. I mean, it really fleshed out a character. No longer are you just running around killing things, now you can grow crops, have a family, really make an imprint in the game world as someone who fits in, rather than a set of hands on a screen hacking and slashing at anything that shows up as a red dot.

Dawnguard didn't really dig into the lore that much, except with the falmer, but it did give us some really great things. Personally DG wasn't worth 20 dollars, but I paid for it anyways.

Dragonborn will definitely be brilliant in its own way as well- but all together, don't sell the other DLC short.

i am not trying to sell the other DLC short. if you put it that way, nothing can be wrong. but it's like out of the point. heck, even going offshore to volkihar castle is much better thing to do than ploughing a field.

i understand some people play skyrim to do that kind of stuff. but i dont understand how that can be attractive. for teenagers of say 13-25, it is probably something they cant even relate to. by the way i am 36 and i have a family and i still dont find that idea interesting in a "fast pace action game"

it isnt that hearthfire fall short. it is the designer's decision to choose that idea to develop and explore for DLC that is falling short.

1st DLC travel to daggerfall, 2nd DLC travel to summerset isle, 3rd DLC, travel to morrowind will, i dare say, triumph anytime than dawnguard, hearthfire any day. =)

the strength of TES game is exploring. that's why it is always open world. removing that equation, simply means you arent playing TES game and that deviates from the essence and the fundamental value of the game itself.

at least now, dragonborn, it is more to the point. i am not talking about the story line, but, the DIRECTION is the correct one at least.

if my statement is offensive to anyone, i apologize. it is because i am so over excited about this dlc that i might be too hyper to think straight.

And you're right, Hearthfire would be out of place in a fast paced action game... Like Far Cry or Halo. But this is Elder Scrolls, It's more than just a fast paced action game. It's got RPG written all over it. You play a role of a character in another world. That character can do ANYTHING he/she wants to do, you can chose to do the main quest or not, you can smith weapons and armor, you can even make jewelry and those are the things that you could do BEFORE Hearthfire was released. There are all sorts of 'non-actions' activities you can do... even just read a book. You see, Hearthfire is a natural fit into Elder Scrolls, So will Dragonborn.

you still dont get me. i never say it doesnt fit. it is the idea of it.

there are many avenues for you to decide what to do for a DLC if you are a designer:
will you choose to do something boring to release it?
will you listen to fans what they wanted?
will you give something that is really exciting to the fans?

i have never seen TES players asking to adopt children.
i have only seen TES players asking to go back to cyrodill, morrowind and other province.

It is the choice. not about if it fits or dont fit. An action to be fitting is all about how you convince yourself to accept that action. simple as that.
given that, even you can convince yourself to have 200 spouses in that house of yours.

it is like when you do brainstorming, instead of prioritzing what is the most important issue, you are choosing to deal with the most trival non important matter.
