A full house is better than an incomplete one?

Is it better to complete the entire house with all of it's furnishings or just leave some incomplete?

I'm a rookie and have owned HF for less than 24 hours, but I think some things are required in order to accomplish certain tasks. Example: you'll need the kid beds and chests if you intend to move kids in with you. Otherwise, add what you need and nothing that you don't want.

I could be wrong. I have been twice before.

This is a question which isn't easy to answer, because it's all based on personal preference. I personally don't want 10 safes in my cellar, but someone else may. Some may want so many chests as there are sub menu options, some may just want one to throw everything in.

I will say, though: I did put everything, except for mounted animals, in my main hall, kitchen, and entry way to give it a more homely look. Even with this, it's funny how the house still looks brand new.

Yeah, I avoid all the hanging animal racks and the barrels, because I think they just clutter up my house. I also don't like stray chairs placed around.

I know right? i have two double beds in my house and i have no problem with it only that it's funny going to my children's bedroom and seeing a double bed then going upstairs and seeing the same thing just a different design lol

Yeah, not a fan of the barrels and wasn't intending to put anything on animal racks.......then Jr comes along, grabs the controller and loads all the animal racks with mudcrabs. :stare:

He has since been grounded.

When I was playing with the add-on for the first time, I assumed the bedrooms would replace those upstairs. I was rather surprised to see it added both as well. I ditched this option immediately because I didn't want a house full of beds, which some Nords would mistake as a brothel.
:D

I did mount the deer head in the main hall, but only because I wanted to see what it looked like. It's actually the only head mount that's nice (it's on the upper wall over the fireplace and looks nice, honestly). The other head mounts are ugly. I don't want to come home to a bunch of snarling-looking animals. Oh, and I did mount the antlers. Those always looked nice.

I put a lute in the display case in the entry way. Damn, was that painful to do to not only set it upright, but to get it as centered as possible. I'm going to fill the other display case with worthless jewels. I also added two kettles and two different pots in my kitchen for added visual effect.

LOL. I've yet to beat this game once and I'm already spending more time with the add-on. Curse you, Bethesda. Now I'll never finish the game. :D

I fully furnished my main house, Windstad Manor and started on my second, Lakeview Manor. I am taking my time with that one. So far I built the main hall along with a kitchen, the beds and tables. Some things in the kitchen but that's about it. I just felt bad that my steward had to live in a completely vacant house. Not in a rush to build the others, but this is my more "homely" manor. Not sure what I want to do with the Dawnstar plot.

Definitely a full house is better than a partially furnished one. So Braggen has just stormed off to start Hearthfire all over again, since he wanted 3 fully furnished homes. I realised not only was he robbed of half the stuff in one cellar, some of the stuff in another, but he was missing stuff in the armory as well. Stuff the bugs, he wasted so much time constantly rebuilding stuff he had already built, it should be easy to do it right a second time. He will make sure he uses those mannequins for their full potential this time as well.

To avoid Braggen's problem it is best to make sure you have the materials and fittings to furnish the entire room in one go, which will prevent the silly workbench list from resetting or or forgetting what is left to be built. You can check the list out and not build anything, to get an idea if you are going to be short of something. if you are missing something, go and get it before you start furnishing the room. Some things like children's chests will not turn up till you do the childrens beds, same with the shrines in the cellar, you have to do the base before the list will show the shrines.

Suggestion: just save before you build/furnish. If you don't like what you have, just reload.

I'm yet to play HF as I play on ps3, but of we do get it, I'm not ganna bother with any barrels (they look dodgy), or the bedroom as 1 of the wings.
I honestly like the look of mounted heads, aslong as they aren't mud crabs lol.
Each to their own I guess. ;-)

Depends if you want to live in a cottage or a mansion.

I don't really see a reason for 2 double beds, as only the dovahkiin and the spouse will ever share a bed. I haven't tried the bedroom wing but I can see that will put in way too many beds.

I find it looks homelier and more cozy with everything, so I chose that for a character who wants to settle down.

I left some things out. I don't really like a lot of stuffed heads, and the armory was too cluttered with the wardrobes and cabinets and whatnot in the middle of the floor. Best thing is to save the game, make everything then decide if you like it. If not reload and add just what you like.
