Companion Disappeared at Lakeview Manor!

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 5:43 pm

So, just got Hearthfire today and became a Thane of Falkreath as well as purchasing Lakeview Manor. I spent the better part of 2 hours going around and collecting the necessary components to build the house all in one go. Upon fast-traveling to my house, there was a Blood Dragon waiting for me! I quickly killed it, and noticed that my appointed Thane from Falkreath was patrolling around my house (This is not my companion, Mjoll the Huntress is). I talked to her because at first I didn't know that it was my Thane. I noticed the option to make her a Steward, and so I did. After entering my house to use the workbench, I noticed that Mjoll had not gone in with me. Upon leaving my house I noticed that she was not outside either. I fast-traveled to Riften and she was not waiting for me inside Honeyside, only Iona was.

So, I guess my question is.. Where did Mjoll go? Did I lose her forever due to this Blood Dragon? She can't die because she is an essential character, so where in the world of Skyrim could she have gone? I fast-traveled from Riverwood when I encountered this bug. She is not there waiting for me either.

Any help would be appreciated, because I did not save prior to doing my last 2 quests to become Thane or any of the collecting I did for my house, so I don't want to have to load to such an old file! Thanks!

You made her steward so presumably she is still around that house some where. I know the housecarls can wander off a fair way looking for trouble, maybe your new steward is down by the lake some where fighting mud crabs. The housecarl I had with Braggen rushed off from the front door to attack some mud crabs down there.

I made a random Thane from Falkreath house steward. My Companion is Mjoll the Huntress who is no longer in existence in the whole of Skyrim. I suppose I should check the surrounding areas more closely though.

It's fine. Anyone else have any ideas where Mjoll might be? And if this is a bug that happens a lot?

Wow you checked out honeyside, you are a real SAS crack unit!

You should find Aerin. He is the guy that follows her around like a dog when you recruit or marry her. Check her house out, camp in her house if need be untill Aerin and her will enter and sleep. You probably did something that made her leave your service.

So just to bump this topic, it appears that your Companion randomly leaving your service when appointing a Steward is a known bug as I have seen it in all the TES wikis. Might be helpful for others to know: tell your companion to go home before you appoint a steward for any home!

All 7 of my stewards all left my characters service while in the house or outside it, none have got lost yet, it just means they are no longer following you now they have a house to look after. I am pretty sure they have to be in your service to accept the offer, so telling them to go home is just going to mean you have to ask them to follow you again before you can ask them to be steward. Maybe Mjoll just went home to get her pet.

Aussie was going to ask her just to get more people in the house, but has not done her quest yet. Braggen has though, and is currently rebuilding so I might try out the dynamic duo. He has Vilkas and Aela for the first two houses.

She is back in Riften where she always is most likely. Mjoll doesn't live in your honeyside house so obviously she isn't there.
