Is there a Hearthfire Release date for the PS3?

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 4:36 am

I know Dawnguard is on an "indefinite" hold until they Bethesda and Sony can get a stable version of it running on the PS3, but what about Hearthfire?

Can we expect the DLC to coincide with the PC release of Hearthfire or are there similar issues with the PS3 port of the Hearthfire DLC to "look forward" to?

Everything you need to know is in a pinned topic in the Dawnguard section.

There is no clear answer as to whether the PS3 users get Hearthfire but considering that Hearthfire is separate and has nothing to do with Dawnguard then I would expect to see the PS3 users get it. How long will it take? I'm not sure. Hearthfire is a small DLC (approx. 75-78 MB) add-on so hopefully it wouldn't be a problem for Bethesda to get to you guys.

It's pretty clear PS3 isn't getting ANY dlc until the PS3 bug has been resolved. Only IF it is resolved will dlc be released for the PS3. The problem lies with the save files, if I'm not mistaken, and it was a problem when Skyrim was first launched.

I'm hoping that the difference in size and scope will help facilitate the port of the DLC to the PS3 and the PS3/Skyrim gamers won't have to go through an "indefinite" wait time similar to what happened with the Dawnguard DLC.

I'm hoping this is NOT the case, but I guess we will find out by the first or second Tuesday of next month when the month long DLC "exclusive" for the Xbox 360 will expire...

There hasn't been anything mentioned for any platform other than Xbox, and won't be until the exclusive period is over.

IIRC this is the last one that gets the exclusive, though, so info will come faster with future DLCs. Hopefully they figure something out for you guys. If I were on the PS3 I'd be pissed off too.

The time exclusive for Heartfire ends on Thursday 4th of October. Release info on the other platforms should be released around then.

I honestly don't know what I will do if they choose not to release it for PS3. I could probably get it for PC, but the cost would be higher than I'd like, and I don't really like using a keyboard to play games (controllers are much more natural). But I badly want this DLC.

If I did buy it, I would have to buy it used. That way, I'd know that Bethesda wouldn't make any money from the transaction. It's bad business to reward someone for shafting you.

He's not talking about Dawnguard.

But his POINT he was trying to make is that the Dawnguard post said there are technical problems with porting it over... all signs pointing towards the save file memory usage.

If that's the problem, then that effects ALL possible PS3 Skyrim expansions... not just Dawnguard.

I remember reading somewhere that Bethesda said that releasing more dlc would make it worse, implying that they aren't making Hearthfire for ps3. And before people ask I saw it somewhere on the google news thingy a while ago and I don't have the link.

It's been said multiple times on the Pete Hines Twitter that "Hearthfire hasn't been announced on any platforms other than the Xbox 360." Does this imply that it's an Xbox exclusive and won't even come out for PC, or are they just not saying anything until the 30-day period is over? Did they pull the same thing with Dawnguard after it had first come out?

The only release date they have given for Skyrim DLC so far, is the Xbox 360 one, for both Dawnguard and Hearthfire, I doubt they will announce a release date for any other version of Hearthfire, that does not mean it is not going to eventually end up available all three platforms.

My guess is that it will hit PC on Oct. 4, which will satisfy the exclusivity thing they have with 360. PS3, anybody's guess.

I feel for you guys, I'd hate being on the console that gets jack squat when it comes to DLC.

Dawnguard would be welcome. But if I can't get Hearthfire, I will be devastated. I may even give up Skyrim period.

Don't be so sure. There's 3 problems with that:

1: If they can't get the DLCs working with the game, then the combined version wouldn't work anyways
2: The multitude of bugs outside of the stupidly large save file is also a large issue. We've got way more than Xbox and PC.
3: Who in their right mind would buy the same game twice at full price?

Maybe in like, ten years when it's 7 bucks in gamestop's bargain bin I might get that, assuming it actually works, but I paid sixty bucks for Skyrim. I want the game I bought to work, without having to buy it again.

Anyone who doesn't have the game yet who is willing to buy the game at full price would get a better deal buying it with the DLC then purchasing the DLC and game separately.

I know what you mean. A "custom and/or deluxe home" DLC is something that I have been wanting since Oblivion!

After getting shafted by not getting a complete set the DLC content on the PS3 version of the GOTY (particularly the "home" based DLCs) and getting practically none of the separate Oblivion DLC content (except for a late, post GOTY release of Shivering Isles) on PSN, I may give up on the Skyrim franchise entirely especially in regards to the PS3!

In terms of future PS3 releases from Bethesda like say Fallout 4, I may belay the usual pre-order especially if there is any hint of that "timed exclusive" tomfoolery that Microsoft and Bethesda seem to love to put out for the XBOX 360 and just wait until a GOTY or "Ultimate" compilation becomes available.

Fool me once, shame on you!
Fool me four times (Oblivion, Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas and Skyrim) then shame on me!!! :swear:

There is no date yet, but hopefully they took a different approach to Hearthfire than they did with Dawnguard. If they did, then you might have a chance of seeing it on the PS3.
