An updatepatch possibly?

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 5:43 am

I doubt there will be any updates to Hearthfire until after it comes out for PC and PS3. As for a patch for the DLC I just wish they'd fix display cases so you can equip a weapon and click the display case instead of having to drag drop it in there, which never works as we all know from experience with Oblivion because when you close the case it always glitches every item. I also want it to you can remodel wings in your house and remove things you've placed in each room when you build things... That's all I wish for ASAP like.

I can't use the display cases... The only options I have are open and close, can't put anything in.

They just removed the easy activation option, you put what you want in by hand. Drop what you want to put in them on the floor, leave the house come back and just pick them up holding A a bit longer than usual, the arranging is something you have to get used to, it takes practice.

The option to fire a steward would be a very welcome addition! I don't really want to murder Ghorbash the iron hand to replace him with Celann from Dawnguard.

I found out you could hire him as steward after i hired the Orc. He's one of my favorite NPC's in the game.

They haven't even fixed many of Dawnguards glaring problems, what makes you think Hearthfire will get any attention?

I am loathe to agree on this but I must. I really really want a patch for some of the more annoying dawnguard issues (hoods making your vampire look like a damn friar being one of the incredibly glaring bugs that was so obvious it baffles me that it even made it past the alpha stage of development just as an example)

They tell you ahead of time that you can't adopt Aventis, so I have no problem with that. The only real bug I a having is armor re-spawning on a mannequin in the cellar. I guess I wouldn't mind it so much if it was better armor, but it re-spawns the first armor you put on it, in this case the crappy plain vampire armor. lol This is in the Pale house, and since someone posted this as a bug in the Falkreath house, it may apply to all. I have the Falkreath and Dawnstar houses, am getting ready to do the Morthal now.

btw, don't know if it's a 'bug' or not, but in the greenhouse, you get a couple of bee's nests, and you will start finding bees flying around your house. Rather annoying.....

Life in Skyrim is definitely tough when a person would rather die than be fired :P How about getting another house? Celann is absolutely awesome.

I listed that as a conditional bug, since I knew it might've been an active decision (albeit a weird one) on Bethesda's part.

Speaking of children, another bug for the list: giving your kids new clothes seems to sometimes cause them to stroll around in their skivvies.

So what are the chief bugs? Here are the ones I'm aware of:

1. Game crashes when you interact with display cases.
2. Many people can't secure the Falkreath plot.
3. Some people have issues with the Pale plot.
4. Enemies in area continually respawn.
5. No adoption dialogue for Aventus (may have been deliberate).

What others?
problem number 1 for me.At the start the DLC was fine,I have almost completed my Falkreath manor, but am unable to finish it due to the game crashing everytime I enter the manor and everytime I activate the workbench!!! This problem has only just started happening but its ruining what was a perfect game for me.I tried 3 times to enter falkreath manor earlier today and 3 times my game crashed as I tried to do anything.have started buiding the other 2 manors but will leave them for now till something is done regarding the current problems.Plus i`m sick of the dead dragon dropping out the sky everytime I come back to the manor!!!

Why in the hell would they not pay attention to it. I'm sure that Bethesda is well aware of the problem/bugs with both DLC's.

Oddish:
commenting on your list of Heartfire "bugs"
1. I have not had the game crash when trying to interact with a display case. It opens, it closes-thats about it. I am not a big fan of display cases anyway so I basically ignore it.

2. I have my house built on the Falkreach property.

3.I have not tried (yet) to build on the other two. I got the letter from the courier only on Falkreach. He did not have any clothes on (well, except for "underware"). I did receive a housecarl for the other two though when I walked into the Jarl's quarters in each place. I am not 100 % sure, but I think I am a Thane in all three places.

4. Enemies respawn all over Skyrim. How is that a problem? Well, not very pleasant, I admit, but common. Are you talking about that Pinewatch bandit place in Falkreach? Part of the hype for Hearthfire says you have to protect your home from enemies-at Falkreach house I killed a giant that was lurking around on the side of the house. I paniced and attacked, so I am not real sure but I think he was attacking the house with his club. :swear:

5. I do not think that Aventus is adoptable. He did not return to the Orphanage and he does have that large house in Markarth.

MY list (partial):
1.Go outside, it is gray and snowing; turn around to go back to the house and it is a lovely sunny and colorful day. Not necessarily a bad thing, but wierd.
2. Build a small cupboard but get a large dresser + a build choice shows display case for item that is listed to build as tall shelf.
3. The housecarl/stewart continually mines for iron ore in depleted veins (though I understand ore veins do respawn-eventually). If she does get any ore for her efforts, what does she do with it?

An aside: are there any housecarls that don't stand/follow behind you yawning or coughing? I feel like (if I could) turning around and shouting,"for the love of Pete! Go take a nap!!!! How can you sneek up on the bad guy with your buddy following continually coughing. Surely someone hears that (that is, besides me).

4. A larder, a larder, my kingdom for a larder. The kitchen in the Thalmor Embassy has one-I want one, a functional one, please and thank you.

OK, Bookmark, your point is well-taken. I'm glad you didn't have these issues, it shows that they aren't universal. But multiple other players have commented on them. I'm just trying to list the "bugs" in one place, for the convenience of any Bethesda employees who might be perusing the forums.

* The Falkreath glitch seems to turn on whether the player has met certain in-game conditions, and it's not always easy for a player to determine what those conditions are. I've seen multiple complaints on the subject.

* The "enemies" issue just seemed to be that the player pacifies (i.e. exterminates) the bandit camp next to their house. And a short time later, the bandits are alive again. Not sure if that was intentional or not. Maybe the camp's just such a cool bandit hangout that new bandits flock to it, even if it's the equivalent of a meat grinder.

BANDIT 1: "Have you heard? The bandit camp next to Lakeview manor's available again!"

BANDIT 2: "Dude... it's only available because that crazy Dragonborn slaughtered everyone there, looted them, and Shouted their nearly naked bodies off the nearest cliff."

BANDIT 1: "So what? It's still a great camp location. Let's go there!"

* And as for Aventus, I think more players mentioned wanting to adopt him than all the other kids put together. It seemed an odd decision that Bethesda actively chose to make it impossible.

Quite frankly, when I finally get HF, most of my characters will opt for less creepy offspring. But, a lot of players are deadra cultists, Dark brotherhood listeners, and vampire lords. Why shouldn't they be able to adopt the game's creepiest kid?

you could also do with an option to buy more cattle n chickens as they get killed very easily. i would also like to be able to hire a guard or two. the only bug i have had is with the mannequins re-spawning armour. i've yet to build elsewhere wasnt sure that you could but now that i know that you can i quite fancy building one in the pale.

I just want lag and freezing issues addressed and I'll be happy.

I'm 33 hours into a character that I created just for Lakeview Manor. As I near completion on the Greenhouse (Trophy Room and Armory are completed), I'm now getting both issues.

While in Lakeview, I've had three freezes in twenty minutes.

And now I'm out in the world and the lag is atrocious. I didn't have either of these issues until tonight, when I finished all of the Greenhouse furniture. I cleared my cache and that hasn't helped at all.

I uninstalled Dawnguard with barely ten hours into it, because of how bad my NPC losses were. Waste of $20, and I was loving the DLC. Now Hearthfire is acting up. :(

I've never been a Beth apologist, but I've never made a huge fuss about all the bugs and glitches. I'm really starting to rethink that position though.

It seems as though everyone is having mixed issues with both DLC's. I hope a patch comes out real soon.

Maybe it wasn't possible to disable the camp's respawn point in the event of the player buying that lot. (besides, Skyrim's bandits are not the brightest people in the world... "Hey, lets mug that huge orc with the Daedric armor and gigantic hammer!")

Could have been interaction issues with the DB quest?

I'm just guessing, there's no way of really knowing for sure.

Don't see why. Aventus's part in the DB Quest concludes at the end of "Innocence Lost". No other quest involves him. It would have been the easiest thing in the world to have him disappear from the Aretino house as soon as that quest was concluded, and be back at Honorhall when the player arrived. (Kind of like Bryan in Grayditch, for those of you who have played "Fallout 3"). Indeed, that same "auto-relocate" system is built into several kids in the game who can be orphaned, either by circumstances or by the behavior of foul-intentioned players. Gralnach and Dorthe are two that I know of.

Like I said, it was just a guess. I suggested it mainly because he's the only kid I can think of involved in a major quest line; Bethesda may not have wanted to risk something going wrong with it.

(I remember that Bryan kid. "I found you a new home, its called Paradise Falls. Here, put this collar on so they'll know it was me that sent you." I was so amazed that was even a option, I had to stop playing for an hour because I was laughing too hard.)

Yes, to my eternal shame, I actually did that to him once. But usually I sent him to Rivet City.

Note also that Bethesda created four new children (that I know of) from scratch, and added the "relocate to Honorhall" mod to a number of others ( I don't know which ones and I don't intend to find out, because not even my Khajiit assassin is willing to randomly murder the innocent). It just seems odd that they didn't do it with the kid that more players wanted to adopt than any other.

So maybe you're right, and they didn't want to risk bugging the Dark Brotherhood questline. No other explanation seems to exist.
