dragonbone weapons...

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 9:35 pm

Do you think they're overpowered?

I have the full one-handed perk tree and an untempered Dragonbone war axe.I went out to find some more dragonbone to temper my armour and weapons and took out a normal dragon with 3 hits.It also bit me and I didn't lose a single bit of health, although my health pool is a 500+ so that explains that.

EDIT:This sin't a complaint,it is more of a 'What do you think' It would only bother me if this were multiplayer game rather than single player.

Once you get passed level 40-45, normal dragons are usually very easy, and any weapon can really kill them. It's use a Dragonbone Sword (Legendary) and it's still a challenge to fight powerful dragons like Ancient Dragon, the newer added Dragons like Revered are just...evil. So don't worry if a normal dragon is no longer a challenge, there are still plenty of other dragons that can eat you alive.

Lol you can kill a normal dragon easily with a iron sword also if you are 30+, has nothing to do with dragon weopons. They had to put more powerful weopons in the game to match a Legendary dragon right? That's you're answer.

that 'eat you alive' bit can be quite litteral. you don't see it very often but sometimes instead of the grab and shake a dragon gets a kill cam that lets them chomp and swallow you whole!

If you ran into a Legendary Dragon, then you should let the Legendary Dragon tell you if they're overpowered or not. The Legendary Dragon is pretty much an oversized Cazador.

And the same tactics apply-run like hell and shoot from cover. :vaultboy:

How much HP and Damage do legendary dragons have anyway ? With 80% damage reduction and 80% magic damage reduction they would need to hit for 600-1000 (before reductions) with their melee attacks and 500 with their breath attack to be a challenge on adept difficulty while also having a minimum of 15k health

Also had a dragon drop a mammoth on me once. that rather svcked. Was never sure why people called dragon fights boring. They've all sorts of ways of amuzing themselves with you. Like spawning from thin air derectly behind you, or the rarest and most dreaded tactic of all.. Mistaking you for a horse and swooping down to give you flying lessons. too bad the dragonborn doesn't actualy have wings.. or a levitation spell. lol. About crapped my pants first time that happened.
Another "oh CRAP" moment is when the dragon actualy manages to land on you, leaving you pinned under it until it decides to fly off again. those tail thumps on the Anchient Dragons REALY hurt.

Overpowered? Yea if you smith the hell outta them and toss on a couple of high end enchants sure. Any weapon in the game can be overpowered if you do that. For better or for worse how the weapons in this game perform is totally up to you. If it ends up overpowered, you can only blame yourself really.

The weapons my characters use are chosen based on aesthetic merit.

I only ever take the steel and arcane smithing perks (or no smithing perks) so most weapons are equal as I don't take 5/5 armsman/barbarian.

They aren't the best looking weapons tbh, the sword/dagger/greatsword don't look too bad.

Aren't the damage values only 1 point above Daedric when they're untempered? They didn't seem to make that much of a difference for me, especially playing on master.
