Having a pet

Post » Fri Nov 16, 2012 6:17 pm

So i want to have a pet dog like Meeko, for example, that stays at my home. Would i just have Meeko follow me, bring him to my home, and then open some kind of dialogue like you do with the stewards? Is this even possible or can only kids bring home pets?

I would just try this for myself but i had lost my character and had to start over again, long story=[. Never had a chance to get a pet and i am just curious how that all works.

-thanks

Yes the pet you bring to your home has to follow you. Your kids should say something like "wow he's so cute can I keep him". You can then say say you can keep him when I don't need him. I have one of the dogs from the Dawnguard. Children will bring home pets and ask you if they can keep them. I personally don't allow my kids to have pets like foxes or crabs because they're super annoying.

Oh ok, so you have to have kids to have pets? I was really wanting to know if you can keep a pet like a dog at your home without kids.

It depends. If you get a dog then all you have to do is take him home and make him wait there then you can leave. He should be there when you get back. You don't really have to have kids to keep one though.

I think that if pets are like other followers, they will only wait in one place for a set period of time, then they'll go back to their designated 'home base". I think that having your kids claim them reassigns them to your house, not sure if you can do it yourself.

Is there a way to find out what they name the animals without killing them?

Some of the pets look kind of dangerous... mud crabs, frost spiders... they attack me. I kill them. Not sure I want my kids playing with dangerous critters.

Has anyone actually had the frostbite spider show up? I'm thinking that it doesn't exist. I poked around in the creation kit and can't find anything on it. I'm not very good with the CK so I may have missed it.

I have Sceolang as a pet. Runa found a rabbit but I told her not to keep it. If she catches a fox I'll let her have it.
