My house is dark outside

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 11:38 am

My house by the lake is nice.
I've purchased the sconces but it's dark outside. Any way to drop a lit torch or light it?
I was thinking of building a lighting mod for the home but didn't know if anyone else can use it?

Have you activated the sconces, i.e. put torches in them?

They are goat horns, never noticed a way you could put torches in them as well. Did I miss something? Because I could use more light in a lot of places those goat horn lights do not work that well, I just keep sticking torches all over the place.

The tops of the towers are lit up at night. It's my favorite thing about the towers.

Drop kettles, place them where you want. Then drop torches on the floor, place them into the kettles. Go inside your house, save then reload that save. Walk our and the kettles will be lit.

I put 3 outside above my armoury, and 2 in the snowberry pots over the rooms wing. It makes for really nice light. I pretty much lit up my whole cellar too.

Tip: Supposedly a forever respawning torch lies in the Dragon's Reach hold or dungeon or something. Supposedly you can just walk in, grab it, walk out. Then walk back in and it will be back there again.

Oh wow, I was going to have torches lying around ina random pile on the back porch of Lakeview just for the telekinesis hobby. Having them as dual-use luminaries in kettles like that will be even cooler, thanks!

BTW for most players Embershard is an easy source of multiple torches per run.

I usually just go get the 12 odd torches from the Dragonsreach dungeon if I need some, although I often have ones in storage that were picked up adventuring if one is needed.

Excellent tip, Elrick. I would never have thought of the kettles. My characters' cellars have a whole new look now! :)

Sorry, my mistake and careless reading :P I thought the OP meant something like regular torch holders. Other than that, I can't think of anything other than what Elrick already wrote above.

I got tired of trying different things. Would anyone be interested in this MOD where I added lights?

My trouble is I'm not sure how to package it. It's clean but not uploaded. I'll look into Steam and NMM later tonight.

Now putting some extra empty torch holders around the place for those of us who want to add torches to actually see would have been nice, but being a console player impossible to add. Either that or do a patch to fix the absent lights and the ones that are present but not lighting anything up, I do not see an official patch ever being done though.
