Dissapearing floor tile

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 1:34 am

Hi all,

I've been having my first attempts at making a plug-in and decided to make a house but I've got a problem which I can't seem to fix. One of my floor tiles doesn't want to show up. I've deleted it and swapped for another, changed lighting and changed a banner above it but still it refuses to show up in game, but the weird thing is it shows up in the creation kit. Could someone please enlighten me (lol... no pun intended). All you can see is a light grey square.

A couple of other things I've noticed. I laid a long carpet over the square in question which touched other unaffected squares and the whole rug dissapeared in game but not in the editor. I can see other lower parts of the building when I look through it. It's almost like it's turned see through but when I walk over the tile in 3rd person mode I dissapear when I get to the middle of the tile then re-appear as soon as I step off it. And I don't fall through it either. I don't really want to shift my whole house a number of tiles over to the left as it might occur again and I won't know how to fix it.

Any help would be gladly appreciated

The problem could just be your save game. Start a new game and go to the house you created and see if everything is working.

I dont know if this is your problem or not as you arent specific about which pieces aren't working, but if you are using the floor sections from the Whiterun kit, some of the stone floor pieces were apparently not completed and do not work correctly. Sometimes they don't show up and other times they do but don't have any collision so you fall right through them. I don't recall the exact ids but there are identical sections with slightly different ids that do work correctly.

it sounds like you may have accidentally dropped an occlusion box over your floor tile

Sounds like a roombound/multibound/occlusion object problem. Have you replaced or copied an existing cell and built the house there? Someone had a similar problem a while ago since he hadn't modified the optimization objects.

Thanks for the help guys...

@Top Killa

I tried from another save but no joy

@ Ch0k3h0ld

Yes, it was a Whiterun tile from Dragonsreach. I tried with variuos other tiles from Dragonreach, copied tiles that work in my mod and also tried a wooden tile from Riften but it still refuses to show.

@ Amethyst Deceiver & Sierain

Have no idea what those are so I Googled them. I highlited the tile and checked to see if the boxes at the top were depresed but they were not. I did copy the "unknown cell" in the list to start making this house. Was working fine and now all of a sudden this happened and I don't why.

As it's still in the early stages of being built If I was to shift everything over a few cells to the left would it effect Skyrim world when I place it on the map.... in other words.... would I have a blank square instead of grass outside the house when I place it somewhere in the game ?

you may have accidentally created a roombound to the exact measurements of your tile, to check it delete the kit piece then turn on markers, go to view/show hide window and tick portals and rooms... that said it may be an occlusion box as AD said..

messing around and moving your whole interior around may be a bit of a faff tbh

if you do have a room or occlusion box you will be able to search for it in your list of loaded refs in the cell window....

good luck :D
