NifSkope error importing vanilla Skyrim torch mesh

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 10:30 am

I am trying to import the torch and I get this error:

""failed to load file header (version 14020007, 20.2.0.7)""
"failed to load nif from 'C:/games/steamapps/common/skyrim/Data/meshes/Weapons/torch/torch.nif'"

All the textures and mesh files have been exported from the bsa into the proper Skyrim folders.

I have used NifSkope for years in Oblivion. But this is my first attempt for Skyrim.

Are there any tutorials for Skyrim and NifSkope?

Nevermind, apparently my version needed to be updated. It seems to work now.

But... well my old version was installed with a install program (and thus I had ti uninstall it with the included uninstall program). I downloaded the new version from NifSkope and there was not install directions so I just dumped all the files into a folder then ran it by clicking on the EXE file.

I mean it works...but why no install for the program?

Because the RC's are still beta.
You actually didn't have to uninstall the previous version that you used for Oblivion, since the new one doesn't install. I run both versions.

Thank you so much Hanaisse, that is a big relief for me as I thought something might be very wrong. But I am irritated that I deleted my Oblivion version. That one was integrated into my file type system.
