PC Gamer:Sparked Outrage on PC community

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 9:33 am

It’s been a month since Dawnguard arrived on the Xbox 360, which means the typical length of your average Microsoft exclusivity deal has expired, but there’s still no news of any further release dates. So … when can we expect Dawnguard on PC?
“We have not announced Dawnguard for any other platform, nor given a timeline for any such news,” says Bethesda maketing VP Pete Hines in a tweet spotted by IGN. “If we have news, I promise I’d tell you.” Oh.
Dawnguard is surely coming to PC, though, right? “I was simply stating that expecting/demanding something today is unfounded. Not that news is never coming,” said Hines coyly in a follow-up tweet. “Sometimes it’s better to say nothing until you can provide solid info than say something before you can,” he adds.
Bethesda have been very quiet about the PC and PS3 versions of Dawnguard, but it’s hard to imagine them keeping it back for Xbox 360 players when Skyrim is doing so well on PC. It’s barely dropped out of the Steam top-ten most played games list since it launched in November last year. Hines’ comments suggest that we’ll have to wait longer than expected for more Dawnguard PC info, which is sad.
We couldn’t stop ourselves from getting a peek at Skyrim’s first expansion, we picked out 10 reasons to be excited about Dawnguard’s eventual arrival on PC. Take a closer look in the Dawnguard trailer from E3.

Why nowadays Publishers and developers (more often just the publishers) don't give a
rat's a$@# about their roots. It's one thing to say "hey they just go
wherethe money is", but to exclude and put off PC gamers with every
single game and DLC release is just getting too absurd.

People do realize that it's unrealistic to assume that information about release plans will be revealed immediately after the 30 days exclusivity is up, right? First of all, they probably still need to work with Sony and Valve to get Dawnguard to launch on their respective platforms, and secondly, Gstaff has confirmed that they are currently looking into doing bug fixes for Dawnguard, so who knows what that will involve. If it involves having to create a whole new version of Dawnguard, then they probably aren't going to release it for the other platforms until that version is done, if they're even doing a new version at all. That being said, I don't think there really is any need for an outrage at this point in time. It is the weekend after all. It'll probably take another week or so for new information to be revealed.

We're keeping the discussion limited to one thread, since many people seem to be unable to act in a civil manner and there's a lot of spam. Right now we're going to have a short break on the topic.

Threads filled with angry posts are of no practical use to anyone, and a lot of work for the moderator team to deal with. Until there is new information with regards to the PC/PS3 release plans for Dawnguard, everything that could be said on the subject has already been said many times.

A new thread will be posted by one of the moderators soon.
