Is this DLC worth getting?

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 1:50 pm

(Disclaimer: While I am new to these forums, I am not new to Skyrim or TES)

I have been playing Skyrim non-stop for weeks now, and I cannot seem to get off of the addiction. However, I have been looking at the two DLC packages and was wondering if they are worth the price. What is your opinion of Hearthfire? Does it help the immersion in the game, or does it seem like it is out of place?

Thanks for the help!

You're welcome, and there will be some who disagree, but many many who do!

As with Skyrim itself, there are bugs, but for the most part they aren't bad, and if you run into an issue it's 99% likely it's been discussed here, and someone can help you with it. Overall it's more than worth it I have found! It adds so much to the whole role playing experience of Skyrim. I hope you enjoy them!

I am having a ball.I got Dawnguard and Hearthfire.Dawnguard was fun but once you start the vampire attacks become more frequent, especially when you fast travel.Sometimes important people get killed because they think they can kill a vampire with a stick, however you get a crossbow and that made it all worth it for me.Now for HF,once I started building my house I forgot to do any quests I was so fixed on getting things for my house and kids.

Well that's good. I'm not sure about Dawnguard yet, mainly because of the $20 price, but looking around makes me feel certain Hearthfire is worth $5. Also, the Roleplaying element is something I have looked over for quite a while now, but I think I'm gonna give it a try.

All I can say is, me too! I am trying to take my time with the house this time though, and will probably build only 1 for this character. (I say that now, but...lol) I had a high level character with loads of gold when I got DG and HF, and of course I rushed to build the houses. Now I know more about what works, and what works for this character. I am role playing it way more than I ever did before, and it is SO worth it! I will get around to the kids sooner or later this time, but I have their places ready. lol

Unfortunately I built the lake house first because I've always wanted to live at a place like that and I made some mistakes.I should have gotten one of the other houses and practiced but I'll know better next time.

I think Dawnguard is worth the 20, it adds quite a bit, but you may want to just hold off on actually starting its main quest. I did, just to see how things changed. The main quest is fun though.
