What do the kids do if a dragonbandit attacks?

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 4:42 am

I gave my kids some really nice daggers. They seem to like playing with them in the basemant. But I am curious what they would do if they were outside during a dragon/bandit attack. I am pretty sure the Lucia and Runa could kill the dragon by themselves (it helps being essential) if it came to that. But will they just run away or what?

Heh. You can give them daggers. Enchanted, daedric daggers.

I assume that they run away, but I haven't had the chance to test this yet.

I was attacked at Lakeview by 3 wolves while the kids were outside. The kids ran away. The staff quickly turned the wolves into pelt.

Children typically flee from combat. Since they are essential, this is kind of necessary: otherwise you could cast Frenzy on them and turn them into weapons.

The children in Fallout 3 did the same. Even the armed ones in Little Lamplight.

Well in my case, when a giant was going after my cow at Lakeview Manor, just as Kharjo and I were coming home at 2:00 AM after the trip from Hell (I was almost over-encumbered with all of my loot, and I have +250 F. carry weight on my boots and gauntlets!), and just as my wife and steward/house carl are getting the kids inside (what a responsible couple of train wrecks!), I quickly begin to defend my homestead and brood. Then one of my kids seeks to help out by saying "MAMA! YOU'RE HOME! CAN I HAVE AN ALLOWANCE...?"

And yes, during the whole sequence (which I could not skip, only speed up), the giant is seriously going MEDIEVAL on me, like I said something bad about its momma.

Actually, most DEADLY, SHARP, POISON INFUSED AND OVERPOWERED enchanted Daedric daggers......

But so far, HH hasn't been sacked by a single rabid skeever, let alone a dragon yet. :unsure2:

But my TG/DB Guildmaster Dovahkin has made sure his two little princesses are extremely well prepared. Yes indeed. I'm also going to see if I can make him enchant those super $$$ gowns he bought them in Solitude.

I'm getting Dawnguard real soon, so my Dovahkin will soon get promoted to a Vampire Lord. And he's also going to bring home CuSith so Lucia can adopt him. Sophie already has Meeko and I used a mod to make him essential so he can't die.

Once I add CuSith, the family will be complete. Mjoll the household matriach, is nearly maxed with her soul drinking 2HH battle axe. Meeko, Bran, CuSith and Garmr will be the girl's pets and help guard the house. Gregor the housecarl and Illia the steward--both of whom don't suffer fools gladly. Sophie & Lucia happily playing with their deadly daedric daggers of death. And Serena who will undoubtedly become one of the best followers in the game.

Can't wait for his 2 girls to get some REAL target practice on marauding bandits who're stupid enough to attempt sacking HH. That should definitely get the girls ready the dragons later. :lmao:

Regardless of whether the HH gets sacked by skeevers or dragons, the defense of the family homestead definitely promises to be a historic family bonding experience. :tes:

Kids wield daggers even in unmodded unexpanded Skyrim. The only difference is they don't use them.

It's kinda funny to see a little boy pull out a knife all serious, then scream "get away from me" and run away.

Both my daughters (Sophie and Lucia) have enchanted Legendary Daggers.

One time I fast-traveled to Lakeview Manor, and heard Bandits coming up the path. The girls screamed, and ran inside the house. A couple minutes later while I was disposing of the bodies over the cliff, Sophie appeared asking for some money.

Another time I fast traveled home, a dragon attacked me. This time Sophie ran out of the house, and drew her dagger. The Dragon was only one sword-swing away from death, so I didn't find out if Sophie would actually attack the Dragon, or what the affect of her having an enchanted Legendary Daedric dagger would be.

I have done tons of testing with this.

When I explain what I do, people seem to think I am some heinous murdering person(IRL),but honestly it is just curiousity.

The children will never attack under any circumstances. If you have given them a dagger they will draw the dagger out,but then quickly run, hide and then crouch. It is actually pretty cute to see Sophia crouched in a sneaking stance with dagger drawn(looking like she is going to attack something).

A fun way to test this is...If you have one of the types of towers in youre home(alchemy lab, enchanting or library).

When an attack commences quickly run inside the house.Approach the kids and tell them "to go play outside".As they go out the front door, run to he top of the house and watch the action ensue.

One time I got 3 bandits and 3 wolves all attacking invincible sophie.Pretty funny. Not much goes on though.Just the repetative childs voice saying "get away from me" and nothing else.Though the " ring around the rosie" routine that I watched was rather amusing as the lvl 50+ highwaymen(I use a high lvl endgame mod that makes all enemies scale to lvl 70) attacked sophie from all angles just causing her to run around, basically in varying circles

I've also tried multiple non combatant spouses. They never attack either, under any circumstanes.I once chased Ysolda from Solitude to whiterun to see the different scenarios of attacks I could put her in.Shes pretty fast and very low agroe and can usually escape most attacks after 1 or 2 deaths at most

I wish they would at least try.Would be really cool,if,when cornered, with no way out ,they at least swung there dagger a few times...I meaan, have some courage!!

I am always fascinated with the NPC interactions in this game. The only real dissapointment for me ,is marriage. The kids are great. My wife is the "ice queen" that not only never speaks or interacts with the kids, but only has 3 different sentences she says to me....kinda lame.

Oh my god it is probably a good thing that we're not real life friends, because you sound exactly like me re the little dorky ass things in this game. I spent like 40 minutes the other day watching Lucia and Hrefna play the friggin' instruments in Proudspire Manor while sneaking (the funny part is that every time they spotted they immediately stopped and give me that look every 13-year-old boy gives their dad when they get caught mastvrbating) and I have a life! I'm supposedly writing a f**king book for cripe's sake! But I can't help it.

Like you, I can't help but laugh when people are expecting their kids to put up a fight against bandits/dragons/vampires/etc and loading them up with enchanted legendary ______ daggers...don't get me wrong of course, I do the same thing (I mentioned on another thread that I actually made wooden swords with 400+ damage...of course, they acted like I gave them a pair of puke green dress socks when I handed them over...little brats!), but those kids are pah-thet-tick when it comes to putting up a fight. You're right re how cute and endearing it is when they cower/cover up with their "weapons" while acting tough...and at the same time, it makes you wish you could be a slightly bigger/older child in the game just to smack them around, at least give them a damned wedgie or something!

Just got my answer.

I had just started a game of tag when I hear the thwack of crossbows being fired. I turn around and there are three red dots on my HUD. Runa and Lucia scream "Go away" and run into the house. After the bandits are dead they come back out and resume the game as if nothing had happened. :)
