I have to say that was the worst marketing for a product that I have ever seen.
I have been checking 3 or 4 times a day for an announcement for a PC release, and there was no release date to be had when I last checked not more than a few hours ago. Thankfully someone on a non-gaming site I visit (???????) asked me if I had tried Dawnguard since it had been out on PC for a couple of hours - which I had completely missed, despite checking regularly.
Absolute ballsup on the marketing front Bethesda! Love your games, but saying nothing followed by a stealth release with little notice, so little notice that even your most stalwart fans might miss it (and have to wake their husband in the middle of the night to check whether it is OK to put it on the credit card), is not great marketing! In future, consider releasing information about release dates in advance, word of mouth is the best form of advertising, but it shouldn't be a great secret that a DLC has been released with no prior announcement, that I have to hear it second hand, when the news here a few hours ago was "still no news".
Please reconsider this strategy for future releases, because it comes across as a bit random and amateur.
Having said all that, thank you for the DLC. But your communication regarding its release was appalling, if even a stalwart fan has to be told by someone else that it's now available - get it together for the next DLC please - it should be me as the fan, checking these forums, getting excited, and telling other people about a new release - not the other way round! These forums could be a great marketing resource for you, but I might as well have been looking at the BBC news website 'funny video of the day' when waiting for a release date, because there certainly wasn't any more relevant information to be had here. Please in future give us more info, we don't just buy your product, we can help sell your product, so long as we feel that we are 'in the loop' when it comes to news about releases.
