Can't buy Dawnguard, Region Locked

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 9:25 am

Hey,
I'm Tes player since Morrowind, I love tes series and I absolutely loved skyrim.
And now I guess like many other players from eastern europe, I can't play dawnguard.

I was gifted US retail version by a friend and shortly after playing game, I noticed steam would no longer let me access skyrims store page.
I was releaved and very thankfull steam actually let me play the game and even download official texture packs and access workshop, so even though i was dissapointed I didn't pay it much mind.

But now, I find myself in situation that after Dawnguard finely became avalaible on PC (I don't own X-box, Just PC and PS3), there is no way I can buy it.
It is only avalaible on steam and steam shows item as region locked for me. And thats really not cool for me or many other long time players, we're basically left with waiting for possible retail goty version, thats not even annouced, and if I suspect correctly based on previous addons, Dawnguard might have changed something in .exe files or overall functionality and that means I'll also loose compatibility with many cool mods that will be depended on dawnguard content.

I don't think this post will change anything, might even get me warning, I understand this is most likely not even Bethesda issue and some publisher crap, but I just wanted address bethesda and ask if they could look into situation and make dawnguard avalaible somehow to many longtime players from eastern europe.

-Cheers

Have you tried contacting Steams customer support? They are the most likely culprits.

steam? i have not but they don't look like someone who would profit by limiting customers from buying something from them.
this looks too much like some 3rd party publisher or retailer thing.

Where are you from? There is a thread about this very problem for central Europeans.

Edit: I see you're from eastern Europe. Yup, lots of people are not digging this situation.

From what I have heard, Dawnguard WILL be available in Eastern Europe at some point in time... though it is unknown when.
