(IB)=Interaction Button
Imagine yourself in whiteruns tavern. You walk in after a long day of killing in skyrims harsh cold weather. And you as the player just wants to hit the tavern. You order a drink, the lady pours it for you. You look at the cup and press the IB and your character picks up the cup and drinks their mead. You go near the fire and listen to the bard and pres the IB to warm your hands at the fire. you walk next to the chair press the IB and your character sits down. More people come in and start to dance, you go to the dance floor and press the IB and your player starts dancing. When you are done and ready to leave you look at the owner of the tavern or any NPC and press the IB and your character waves at that NPC and the NPC tells you goodnight. Finally you press the IB at the door and open the door and close it.
Now before you say E for PC, A for 360, or X for ps3 is that button. I would disagree, that button is the activate button. The interaction button is more geared towards your character actually doing an action that interacts with the world around him/her/it lol. Prime example for the difference. Lets say there is a pack of cigarettes laying on the table. Well if you press the activate button you will take the cigarettes, but if you pressed the IB then your character would of light a cigarette and start smoking.
The IB would only work in certain circumstances of course. You wouldnt press the attack button to pick up an item right? Well the same goes for IB whereas you wouldnt press the IB in combat. UNLESS the developer wants to make the IB a factor in combat as well.
An example of IB in combat would be you are fighting with both hands occupied like holding a two handed weapon and you press the IB and your character headbutts the enemy. Or maybe your character will kick the enemy if you press the IB. So the opportunities goes as far as the developers imagination.
I actually am probably going to pitch this idea other places then this forum. Maybe in a form of an article for my website and post it on N4G.
