Illuminating those dark, damp dungeons

Post » Sat Nov 17, 2012 7:24 pm

Hello.

Is there any way to enchant a piece of jewelry/ring with light properties? I think not but no hurt in asking. I am asking this because my player is bow/crossbow specialist and it's really annoying to be constantly switching between Candlelight spell / main weapon. Remember: you need both hands for using a bow. so... it would be real nice if a permanent candlelight enchanment could be used on a ring for instance.

Best regards.

No such thing exists, but if you use Auriels bow with Sunhallowed arrows they might make a second of light. Also if you have a follower give them a torch, they only need one and they use it in all dark places also it never runs out.

Oblivion was nice for that :D I sometimes miss their system. Learn a spell, enchant an item with that spell's properties...good times with Chameleon. Having a glowing necklace or helmet was handy too :)

..but alas there is no way, that I'm aware of, to do this in Skyrim.

Q = Favorites
Highlight main weapon = 1
Highlight Candlelight = 8 (or 2, whatever)

OR

Hotkey your weapon and equip Candlelight (and something else useful) and use the hotkey as a toggle.

Thank you very much for your replies. Didn't though about giving torches to my companion. Anyway I have just finished Dawnguard and I don't intend to play anymore so far.

Use vampire's sight or one of those sight spells. Then cast candle light or whichever one floats above you. Then have you and your follower carry a torch.

You can get a Stendar spell tome that is intended as a Sunburst Cloak against undead but works quite well in lighting the area up around you. Again you have to cast it though.
Just keep doing Dawnguard sidequests and you will eventually have it available from one of the Dawnguard NPCs.

Lol, and while your at it see if you can have a mage-student follow you around constantly casting Fire Storm for you :D

In oblivion we used to have stuff like that. Just another thing that was removed for no reason.

Stendarrs aura works, though you'll have to recast that. You can also get a staff of magelight after completing a College quest.

Or you can just play a Khajiit.

This. Still think night eye should've been a spell option.

I have no idea why they removed that spell.

It's annoying but I'm glad to have nights eye. My original toon was a khajiit and it was almost like being spoiled. Then I made a dark elf vampire lord and was happy to see that we have unlimited use of it also. Otherwise I'm not sure how I would bear doing dungeon crawls without it.

I just go into the system and turn up the brightness and then turn it back,
