Noobish Question...

Is the DLC just new quests in skyrim? New area(s) in skyrim? or is it seprate from skyrim altogether?

Technically it's a new worldspace, but it's integrated into Skyrim (Fort Dawnguard is in a canyon you enter via a cave, Castle Volkihar on an off-shore island). Other new locations are all within exisiting Skyrim area. Soul Cairn is obviously in Oblivion.
You can meet new enemies and find new items in dungeons already visited (like gargoyles in Bloodlet Throne).

First poster is right.Aside from that nothing new aside from new dragons and new vampire attacks.

i am still finding new stuff in the existing skyrim world. New encounters, camps, lootable containers, mini quests, and various new epic items such as weapons and even a mount
