Unwise to ignore magic?

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 2:41 am

I am a wood elf/assassin - specialising in sneak, archery, alchemy, enchantment and one handed. For defense I have light armour upgrades and smithing.

I plan to do this run without magic. Is this at all feasable or will i just run into trouble if I ignore magic. Any tips on perk trees that I possible shouldnt ignore or any perks particularly good for my character would help.

As a side question - Will I get extra powers as a vampire (try not to give to many spoliers) just wondering if there are extra benefits even if I have ignore the school of magic.

Thanks

My present character doesnt use magic much its still at 100 no magic perks used health and stamina are at 300 and he gets along fine. I do have Marcurio as a follower though hes quite handy in a tight spot.

I have played four characters into the 50's and only one did any magic. The other three used no magic at all: no spells, no scrolls, no Alchemy, no Enchanting, no Shouts. I had little trouble keeping them alive. They were all very fun characters to play.

I played on Adept though. It might be a different story on the higher difficulties.

If your character doesn't like magic, just don't use it.

Just for the record who is Marcurio?

If your character is against the use of magic you shouldn't be using Enchanting really. It's certainly viable to ignore magic though, but in my opinion it's not very fun, I like to use a bit of everything really.

Marcurio is the dude in yellow robes in The Bee and Barb, in Riften. Pretty swell follower.

My female Altmer Elen does not use magic at all, however she does have a little too low health which can make her weak against dragons, so if i find a resist magic item or resist fire/frost i'll disenchant them and put them on my armor so she's a little bit protected. Even though she has no perk points in enchanting.

But which is best? resist magic or resist frost/fire?

I rarely use magic. I dabble sometimes, but never persue as an point investment. I dabble with enchantment a tad more, and maybe throw a few points at it.

I have a Bosmer Assassin and a Nord Warrior, neither of which use magic. Both above level 60 and play on Master difficulty. Magic is no essential.
