This DLC looks fantastic, but a terrible job introducing it

So a guard tells me to go to the fort, I do. Do I follow this quest to join the vampires?

I've just entered Dimhollow Crypt and I'm killing vampires, not something my vampire wants to do.

I shouldn't be wondering which way to go, can someone please inform me how to start the vampire questline?

Keep going. Once you reach a certain point, it will become obvious. VERY obvious.

Good, I assumed this.

But I shouldn't have to guess.

Yeah for some reason the dawnguard doesn't notice you're a vampire and your vampire wants to join the dawnguard....only to betray them one quest later.

Well rpish its not that bad.

1. If your a vampire and hear someone starting a vampire hunting group what would you do? Infiltrate and destroy.

2. Killing vampires as a vampire is perfectly normal, vampires are evil, other vampires are not nessesarly allies. And you wanna gain the trust of the vamp hunters.

Offcourse then you meet the big bad vampire lord and realize you can make it bigger xD

Except vampire hunters are supposed be able to...spot vampires....especially their veteran leader. And unless vampire hunters are known to be idiots, what vampire would risk infiltrating a group of "skilled" vampire hunters on his or her own? Regardless the simple fact that it forces you to help them is just......it's sad really.

Yeah... My thoughts exactly....... The DLC is fun but it was really poorly thought out story wise.... I mean.... Come on... Freaking glowing eyes here! Hellooooooooo!! *neonsignspointingtomesayingvampirehere*

I miss Michael Kirkbride......he knew how to make a story that seemed simple at first but was steeped in philosophy, religion, myth, history, and his unique brand of bat[bleep] insanity. And all his writing was consitent. At least back then plot holes were there because of technical limitations and less so because of poor writing.....I dont know maybe I'm exaggerating, and maybe the story picks up later on but right now it's just SO....meh. The main quest at least had some potential for depth in it (the concept whether the world is supppsed to end, the metaphysical relationship between Akatosh and Alduin), but so far this story is just....well.....meh.

Sad but true. Have you completed the story? Does it get any better?

Oh my gosh...the more I play this the more clichéd and shallow this story gets....the conversation between
Spoiler
Serana and her mother is cringe-worthy. The classic daughter wanting to forge her own path, tired of her parents malong decisions for her. Yes this can be done well, but when you're going to use such an old cliché like this you'd better write it well and make it believable. I just dont believe that this is at all a genuine conversation between a family of necromantic murdering vampires who worship the lord of [censored] and enslavement and committed unspeakable acts to gain his favour. Molag Bal would laugh at this.

I may have gotten carried away there, but hokey writing really gets to me. That said, some of the ideas are nice and I love how the brought back the soul cairn. The art designer is extremely creative (I'm talking to you Vsions!) andmanaged to capture the weirdness of the TES that, in my humble opinion, has been missing since Morrowind and Shivering Isles. Still, this overall story is getting pretty laughable......to me at least.
