Problems with a W.I.P.... My Dremora Warlock wont talk?

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 11:44 am

Hey,

This is my first mod in progress for Skyrim. I fallowed the tutorial on making quests from the Creation Kit. I fallowed it to the letter with changes only to dialogue and class. I used a Dremora instead of a Dark Elf.. But some reason when I went to test in game he wouldn't say anything!!! Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

Thanx in advance

Hey again,

I've been going over my mods progress up to this point. The only thing I can think of is, the Dremora race wasn't ment to interact without scripts maybe???

There is a checkbox to check (don't remember the name) to make races able to talk. Just use a copy of the base dremora race for yours and check it.

The Dremora Race IS already able to talk.
What kind of voice type did you choose for your Dremora? Use a "normal" voice type like, for example, MaleDarkElf, MaleNord or MaleDrunk, etc. and try again. He should at least have his default hello topics. However if you can't get him to say one of your topics you made for him, then maybe it's because of the dialogue/quest bug. Just save with your Plugin enabled and reload. Check, if it will work then. For further information about the bug, have a look here: http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1399783-dialogue-no-longer-works/

Thanx! it worked... Sort of... The begining dialogue shows but after that nothing??? I'm going to go through the tutorial again to see if I missed something.

This may also be the dialogue bug preventing things from working. Basically all issues with quests, scenes, or any dialogues may or may not be caused by it... It's pretty annoying. :/

I'd like to thank my dad, my team, and my 10th grade math teacher Mr. Hills. And of course Bethesda. None of this would have been possible without them.

Is there any work around to the bug...? If not, does Bethesda plan on fixing this in the future??? No quests with dialogue, kinda lame...

Work around is:

Start a new game using COC at main menu
SAVE The game
Exit to Main Menu
Load that save

(not confirmed 100% reliable, but usually seems to do the trick)

What h4vent posted works for some, though it doesn't totally always fix dialogue. Some of my quest mods dialogue seems perminantly broken and none of the little fixes work on it, but it worked fine before 1.6.

And yes Beth has confirmed that they are aware of the issue and they certainly intend to fix it. Though we aren't sure exactly when...

Just the fact that it's in the works is good enough for me.
