Any suggestions on how to precisely control when decals disa

So... I've got no idea yet if it is possible, and didn't investigate too much yet to find a workaround since I'm still busy with some other things, but thought I'd throw this out here already in case anyone can come up with a good suggestion :)

I am looking for a way to precisely control (through papyrus script) when decals placed by a spell's projectile disappear.

I've got:
- An arrow placing an invisible explosion
- This invisible explosion places an invisible activator
- This invisible activator casts a spell multiple times in a small area around itself downwards into the ground
- Each spellcast places a decal and a second invisible activator
- This second type of invisible activator has a script very similar to the script used to ignite oil, and when hit by any kind of fire it ''ignites'' the decals.
- Flames appear correctly etc., but I'm just looking for a way now to make those decals disappear again once the invisible activators have been lit, to simulate the decals getting burned.
