Bolstering the ranks help : V

I joined the dawnguard and i'm on this quest called "Bolstering the ranks". It's says I have to find this guy named Florentius. Well I did, but he keeps attacking me, and I don't know why. I never hit him or did anything that would make him want to kill me. I think it's a bug, but I don't know for sure. If anyone could help me out that would be wonderful.

While that didnt happen to me, a similar bug occurred when recruiting another person(I don't know if you've done it or not, trying not to spoil it) , and it was because I had serana with me. Try loading a save from before entering the dungeon and dismiss Serana.

My last save is when I enter the room hes in. I told Serana to leave when i was near the entrance before I did anything, but It did nothing. He keeps attacking me, and I really don't want to start a new character. I'll leave the dungeon, and then tell her to leave, and see if that works.

did you accidentally hit him with a bolt?

No, all I did was enter the room. He's pissed at me from the very moment I enter the room.

It's bugged so I give up. Not doing that quest, and that just means I can only do the main story for Dawnguard. No side quests for me unless I want to start over, and that's never going to happen.
