Is Dawnguards Dlc Main Quest To Short For You?

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 6:22 pm

To me I'm very dissapointed in this, 10-20 hours was promised yet you can easily get through it within 4-6 hours, although the amount of side quests I hear about I still think this is a shame and a chance for a master piece missed by Bethesda :/

I put 30 hours into it, so obviously you didn't take your time and just rushed through it.

And that was only the vampire side.

You have to take into account that you probably only did 1 faction. Doing both factions is a lot of content.

I love the length of it. The story is very well done and there's a lot of variability. Took me two evening's and a morning to get past it.

I didn't like the main story to be honest, it was just bland and uninteresting :(

I disagree. Some of the best storytelling in a Elder Scrolls game in a while.

Agreed. Honestly, this is my favorite DLC. The greatest I've ever played. I personally like it more than SI.

It's a close second to SI in my opinion. But that could be because I have some really great memories with it.

I'm 24 hours in and havent finished with the Dawnguard side, so if you finished in 4-6 hours you probably just plowed through it as fast as possible and missed most of the plot points.

It may not be totally worth 20$, but it certainly adds one more viable questline well on par with the others (companions/mage/thief/DB). Its not MQ-material, but it fits pretty well with the rest of the content.

Bottom line? Its probably 5-10$ too much for the content, but its a good addition to the game in the long-run. Once there are 4 DLCs out and theyre selling the game bundled with them for 30$, nobody will go through this content and say "I wish this was never made". It sure is a hell of a step up from Horse Armor, even if its not Shivering Isles.

My biggest, if not only, concerns are: 1 - genocidal Vampires destroying WAY MORE npcs than rampaging dragons is BAD and 2 - Picking DG is by far mechanically superior in terms of rewards, the Vampires need a buff.

I would pay $60 for this DLC. Way more content than most new games that come out for the same price.

... Yeah, congratulations.

I still probably posted the most neutral and unbiased commentary this thread will ever know, but Im well aware some people are entirely prepared to massively overpay for any product they truly love. It's all the more obvious because I do it myself at times too!

But from an impartial standpoint, this DLC wasnt quite everything we could hope for and it's price point is definitely in the upper strata of the price range of this amount of content. It's not the greatest DLC a Beth game ever saw, and much less the standalone equivalent of a full game. But I'm done denying it has certain merits. Even an average, slightly overpriced DLC is immensely welcome when it adds content we cant otherwise have for a game as great as Skyrim.

Yeah, SI was a great time. Once I stepped through that portal, it just blew my mind.

It doesn't smack you in the face with WOW like Shivering isles did, but it was still great writing and lots of fan requested features.

I would put it equal with shivering isles despite not having as incredible an introduction scene.

and short? are you serious?

I'm about 40 hours into it and I just now finished the dawnguard side... haven't even started the vampires yet.

slow down and smell the awesome.

I'm not saying it isn't worth it it is it's just they made out it was a long adventure when it really wasn't I suppose 4-6 was exaggeration it was about 6-8 but I did a few other things during that time, love the vampire lord perk tree and transformation makes doing the rest of the quests around skyrim interesting.
