Are there any plans to fix Serana? *spoilers*

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 11:33 pm

Serana's my fav character in Skyrim, but there are a few things that stop me keeping her as a follower.

1) She resurrects everything, and I do mean everything (she should stop after being cured imho).

2) After being cured, she still has yellow eyes.

3) After being cured, she still uses vampiric abilities that can infect you if you get hid.

4) After being cured, she still wears her hood.

5) It's damn near impossible to get her to wear certain types of armour and robes because of that hood.

6) The most interesting and in-depth/complex character in the game is not able to be married. Why? And yes, i do consider that to be an error, we're supposed to be able to play the game exactly how we want.

7) There is no way (that i can determine with my very limited knowledge) to fix her beyond a certain degree in the CK, she won't stop ressurecting things and using that damn ice spell that sends everything flying, and she will never stop wearing the hood).

8) After being cured, she still complains about the sunlight.

Four of your problems revolve around her being "cured". IMHO she should be left as a vamp anyway, but I see what you mean.
There is an armour set that, when Serana wears it, stops her donning that annoying hood. and she looks  in it!

From a pure RP perspective, while it's nice to say that we should be able to do what we want, how about what she wants? It's not like they left out the option to marry her as an oversight, but they specifically wrote her to not want to get married. I can respect her wishes, even if I suspect she's lying every time she enters a temple with me... :)

For 7) - you have to delete those spells in the CK. I don't have it open atm, but its one of those tabs in her actor menu. And then just pick whatever spell you want her to use.

For 1) - can probably override that with a simple script that restricts her to resurrect by keyword.

For 2-4) The scripts associated with these needs to have the proper conditions set, I guess.

7 and 1, I am sure of.

I can make a mod to remove the yellowness from her eyes and stop using vampiric abilities, but literally nothing I do stops her wearing her hood or ressing people or using that damned annoying ice spell.

As for being able to marry her, if you side with the Dawnguard you're never gonna hear her say anything about marriage. Thing is, the way I played it, and it was unintentional as it was my first playthrough, it seemed that Serana never wanted to be a vampire, or rather, she wanted whatever would make her parents happy and proud. I RPed that she was unwilling, that Serana and my character bonded throughout their journey and fell in love, and all of the dialogue supported that. And then she gives up millennia of vampirism, and all that power, on your say-so. If she's willing to do that for you, surely marriage is no big thing? I've even suggested how it could be done via an epic questline where you fight Molag-Bal for her soul so she is free to go to Sovengarde with you after death, and then you can marry her (with Valerica's blessing and everything).

I don't care about the marriage mechanic, I just want to have the story progress my way. I mean, I'm already forced to sell my soul to a Daedra if I want to complete the TG questline, and it just kinda svcks when huge choices like this are made for the player, cos to me it breaks the immersion and makes the game less fun. My Dragonborn is the type of guy who'd tell Nocturnal where to shove it, then go kill Mercer Frey himself, because he despises the Daedra and wants nothing to do with them.

Dude that sounds amazing...you should make a quest mod just for her.

Also, I remember people saying that if she was able to be married, she would be generic like every other NPC, well, after finishing the questline I can say that her dialogue is pretty generic...and there's no point ever in talking to her besides asking her to make you arrows. So the generic argument is pretty much null. The fact that Serana goes from an ancient vampire struggling with her parents, to falling in love with the person who got her through everything, makes so much more sense in every realistic aspect of life.

I would love to, cos I would make it an epic questline, and I'd love to do one for those who, like myself, chose to destroy the Dark Brotherhood (where you kill Cicero and the Night Mother), and I'd also "fix" the TG questline and allow you to kill Mercer Frey without having to become Nocturnal's [censored] in the process.

The problem I face is that I am not a voice actor, nor am I a coder, nor do I know nearly enough about the CK to do any of my ideas. If I could get a team to do all that stuff, and I just be the guy who does the story and script, I could do that easily as I am a writer by nature.

Yes but there is a mod "So Hot" I think it's called, which she will wear and it looks like almost nothing, also "Gatti Bondage Collar" either that or another similar one and she stops wearing the hood, I usually have her wear that and "Airy Armour".

Look up Eileen on nexus and one of my pics shows Serana also in the shot, I'd post the link but others have posted advlt material there.

I'm trying for a mod on Creation kit but no success so far. Its a marriage quest which will be different than a normal skyrim marriage and I have no luck so far. If she is willing to give up vast amounts of power and immortality for you, she has a thing for you.

Though I RPed as a vampire and I came to a conclusion that it was his father that ruined her family not vampirism. If you were willing to sacrifice a 1000 innocents, kill your own daughter for power, its you who has a problem. Serana just wants a family again and doesn't care too much of vampirism. I'm wondering If I should post my plot, for the more experienced modders.
