Question is in the title, Where do yo find the chitinous little turds?
I've already played through the DG quest line and even finished that ridiculously long dwarven based side quest (might rage about that in another thread), and still i have not seen anything pertaining to the words shell or bug.

Are they unlocked through level?
Are they hiding in some falmer anus of a cave?
Are they hostile?
How big are they?
Are they particularly rare?

I'd be extremely grateful if you could answer a few of the above questions and it wouldn't hurt to tell me anything i forgot to ask about

(BTW i know this has been asked before but the answers given in those threads were so vague that i couldn't decipher then if i were the freaking head of calligraphy at Harvard).

They are hiding in the falmer anus. There are two, in two different caves.

Oh sorry, I'll answer the rest. The are quite large. They are friendly. They are VERY rare. They are even hidden.

Well the first one is easiest to find. For anyone else reading, there are minor spoilers.

When you go to Darkfall cave and open the portal, go through the one to the Hidden Vale. When you come out of the portal, make your way up top to where you can see the whole huge world of the Vale. Now go to your right. Stick alongside the mountains. You will come across a vale sabercat den. Kill the kitty, then keep going onwards, sticking to the mountains. After about a hundred feet, you will find a falmer guarding a cave. Kill him, go in the cave, and clear it out. There will be a little ramp in the cave with a lever at the top. Pull the lever and the wall will open up.

Classy uses of the word anus, guys.
