Custom Voices wont work.

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 2:08 am

Hello dear people of the Bethesda forums,

I am at a complete loss here. After following the tutorial on the Creation Kit wiki, both http://www.creationkit.com/Bethesda_Tutorial_Dialogue and http://www.creationkit.com/Adding_Voice_Intermediate_Tutorial one and a lot of google and forum searches. I still have no idea what's going wrong in this case. My custom dialogue just wont play. I ended up creating custom voices for my character with custom greetings and goodbye's. But those wont work either.

Is there something I am doing wrong here? Are there any usefull tips on this part from any of you pro's out there?

Thanks in advance!

Same here, I have been searching all over the internet and there are tons of "fixes" but none seems to work for me

I followed the tutorials as thought, and the unofficial video ones which are the same as the text one, when I get to in game i walk up to Bendu he only uses his passerby dialogue, like "huh" "yes?" "hello" such things.

of the "fixes" i have tried them all.

-full reinstall
-not recording audio leaving it blank
-recording audio at 16 hrt and the other choice 48000 something.
-alias disabled
-alias enabled
-blocking branch
-no blocking branch

I'm going to make my own post about it just so its a more known issue, cause i have only seen a handful of people with this odd bug.

So I'm not the only one then? I'm not sure wether to be happy about it or sad. If more people are experiencing it, a fix might be coming soon. But if others are experiencing it, there's nothing I could do at the moment to fix it I suppose...

looked around some more and on these fourms its a known problem apparently with the new patch 1.6?

a quick "fix" i guess is you have to load up your game with the mods active like normal. but once you are in game save form the esc menu and then load that saved game. its seems to work, worked for me 1/2 quests. but I think while trying to fix this bug i just messed up quest with alias stuff.

I tried that and it did actually work. This is a truly odd bug. Such a shame it hasn't been fixed yet.

Please post exactly what process you have undergone and what happens in-game.

For me, saving in the cell with my custom NPC and then reloading typically gets the dialogue working, provided that I did everything in the CK correctly.

My goal was to make a custom npc that would seek out the player and force dialogue with him. Inviting the player to come visit the new outpost of the vigilant. I set up the package for the courier to find the player and force a greeting on him. If I use a 'clean' save the courier shows up and just blankly stares at my character. No sounds, no nothing (considering it's all custom dialogue. Including the greetings and goodbyes)

What I did to 'fix' this is exactly the same as you did. I saved my game before the courier even shows up, and if I reload the courier shows up, forces a greeting with the custom dialogue. Including the sounds I recorded for him.

Sounds like you are experiencing the Dialogue Bug associated with any custom dialogue that was discovered close to when 1.7 was released:
