Can't get an NPC to stay in shackles

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 3:07 am

Just like the title says... it's pretty much an exact copy of one of the DB torture victims with a modded AI package to "sit" in the wall shackles in my custom cell... but whenever I attack him, he'll just fall out of his shackles, then get up. I checked the ignorecombat flag... any ideas?

There was a very similar topic a month or so back, with stay in shackles not working. My memory says that it did start working after quite a few posts.

Have a search and see if you can locate it (I can't remember who had the problem, was it Doc??)

I had this problem as well. I posted but no one ever responded. They told me to look at packages. I placed my hostage in a cage instead, worked like a charm.

However, if someone would find a way to make it work, that'd be nice too.

Actually, I could imagine a cage working even better for my purposes...

Also, h4vent, I searched it and found some topics on it. I pulled some useful tips from them, but still no luck getting it to work.

Thanks for your replies :) If anyone does know how I can fix this though, please leave me a post/message. I'd like to figure out the shackles if I can.

UPDATE: It seems to be an aggression issue. When I set the prisoner to a friendly faction, he took a few hits in stride before he decided to get out of his shackles and punch me in the face. Anyone know how I can edit him to not aggro when hit at all?

Odd, I looked at the DarkBrotherhoodSanctuaryRepair Quest, which has aliases for the captives. I actually expected to find a package attached or at a minum an alias Script attached that maybe sets them to IgnoreFreindlyFire... or something. But nothing. I grepped the source code and they dont appear to be injected anywhere, besides the sanctuary quest, which does nothing to them. So, that means they are not generic. Whatever is preventing them from attacking is specific to their Actor Definition ( DBTortureVictim[1-4]). Try injecting those actors into your quest and see if they respond.

You can have an NPC so cowardly that they will always "flee" combat (setting on the Actor, in the CK, I forget the Panel maybe ... might be AI Data?)

But I can't see how you get one - without some form of package - to just sit there and take damage (friendly or otherwise).

If I remember I'll have a look at the "Victims" and see what if anything is special (something must be!?)
