Getting custom characters in custom world?

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 4:49 am

Is that possible? I'm a beginner and the tutorials are great as far as placing custom NPC's in the main Skyrim world. But when I try to put one in my own created world it makes a dublicate file when I save and the actor isn't in the created world when I start the game.

I haven't seen very many tutorials for custom worlds. I hope there is more in the future because that's where my interests lie. Thanks for any help.

It sounds like you aren't setting your esp to active when you load it? Make sure that it says 'Active' when you select the esp and click OK to load. Then you can save over the original file instead of making a 'copy', and it should work properly.

Thanks for the reply, I'm know this is going to make me sound really new of which I am, but what is "esp"? :)

I probably am jumping in too fast and need to do a lot more reading and learning before trying to deviate from what the instructional videos give. lol

The esp is the file you create that saves all the (game) data for your mod. When you open the CK and click load, and select your mod, click 'Set as Active' and make sure next to your mod in the list changes to active.

I do recommend doing the entire Bethesda tutorial series. It will give you a great understanding of how everything works on a basic level, then you can go from there: http://www.creationkit.com/Bethesda_Tutorial_Creation_Kit_Interface

Thanks for the help. I've finally realized with your advice that when you are adding to a custom world you can't go by the tutorial videos. They work great as long as you are placing the mods in the main Skyrim file. This even helped me figure out why I kept getting dublicate files and having my PC step into nothingness when going thru the door of an interior I created.
