3d grass will not render when using grassy textures on new l

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 9:00 pm

When trying to add grassy textures to a small island created in the creation kit the 3d grass that is supposed to randomly generate along with the texture will not render or draw at all within the CK. I can paint as much fieldgass01 or any other grassy texture I want on a cell however no grass will appear no matter how much grass I try to put on a peice of land leaving me with jus tthe plain texture but no ambient foilage save for the statics that can be placed on it like trees and such. I have the show grasss button ticked as I draw but it doesn't seem to help. Is there something I am doing wrong here?

You should have this somewhere in your skyrimeditor.ini

bAllowCreateGrass=1

Do I edit this script?

Or do I have the change the .ini file? I'm still completely in the dark here.

You open the .ini files with Notepad and search for [Grass]

When you find the [Grass] section, there will be settings listed below it that inform the CK/game on how to treat the [Subject] in the CK or the game.

If you read down the list, you may find that you already have the line -

bAllowCreateGrass=0

in this case, just change the zero to a one, so that it reads -

bAllowCreateGrass=1

If there is nothing that reads bAllowCreateGrass=1(or 0), then just add the line directly under the [Grass] section, so that it reads

[Grass]
bAllowCreateGrass=1
another setting=0
another setting=1
etc...

Read this post and change your existing .ini files accordingly -

After following the instructions, your problems should be solved.

added the bAllowCreateGrass=1 line to the skyrimeditorperfs.ini and went in to try to paint the fallforrestgrass01 texture onto a cell with no 3d grass.

I've made the changes to the other skyrim.ini and skyrimeditor,ini that you mentioned in the removing grass link after my last post however I've yet to yest the results. I will post the results of said test shortly. I did read the removing grass thread you posted and made the changes after my last post though. Thank you Tamb0

UPDATE

Tamb0's fix does work remarkably well and is really great for rendering 3d grass in the CK in realtime.

Below in the spoiler are images of a small patch of land before and after Tamb0's fix respectively.
