How to test your own BSA ?

Post » Sun Nov 18, 2012 11:06 pm

I have a question that someone must know the answer to. I know back in the OB days there was a file you could tell the game use the BSA for this mod or Use the files on the PC instead...

Is there a way to tell Skyrim hey use my BSA not the files thus allowing you to test it before you ship it out ??

Have a second Skyrim folder with just the bsa? Call it SkyrimNoFiles, then when you want to test rename your Skyrim folder SkyrimFiles, and rename SkyrimNoFiles to Skyrim.

Yeah that will work, I just remember that Oblivion had a config INI file that for each mod you could just mark which files came first PC, or BSA thought maybe Skyrim still had this.

So is the Default Behavior of Skyrim to Load stuff from the BSA file first if it exist and then the Directory or to ignore the Directory if a BSA file exists ?

Would the 'Skyrim Installation Swapper' http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/19034 work? I think you'd have to switch it to swap out core files or whatever it calls them.

You can rename the Data subfolders to ignore them. In their absence, the BSA stuff is all that will be there.
