yes I know STAB and also I should do the main quest that might help.

Tried that it just went woosh *pew* fire breath(I'm a vampire but working on curing my self right now) and two seconds I'm dead. :\

Usually running straight at them works.

If you need extra help, get resist fire/frost. There is a sword that does extra damage to dragons. And there is a blessing or potion that you can get from the mq that increases dragon damage.

Or if running at them doesn't work, run away?

it's a high level dragon that randomly spawns

It's a new dragon type added in the DLC. Same as the twin dragons in Forgetten Vale.

spellbreaker makes dragons easy mode if you are having problems with the dragon breath.
