Option to import character to new game.

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 1:49 pm

With the perspective of the upcoming 1.8 and since the most effective way of enjoying the fixes of a patch is to start a new game, I'm writing this to ask for the devs for an option to import my previous character form an old save game to a new one keeping the experience, learnt spells and enchants and inventory items, except the quest related ones.

I started a new game with the release of 1.4, 1.5 and 1.7 and I'm very found of my char. I always recreate him with the same look and take the same choices regarding perks, I'm not asking to change a game mechanics, but if i'm going to have to start a new game again with 1.8 please make an option to import my char and keep playing with. I don't mind doing the quests again.

I just want to be able to select a save from my PS3 and import my 1.7 character into a new game on a new save on the same PS3 at the 1.8 or any upcoming patch. Nothing else.

Please if anyone support this idea comment below. And if a moderator can explain this for a dev and report back with a simple yes or no I'd be very glad.

And refrain on bashing beth on this thread. There is already plenty of it on this forum and it is not constructive.

I'm a bit confused here...

Does the PS3 automatically force you to create a new character when a new patch for a game is released?

I ask, because for the PC (at least) there's nothing preventing you from playing your current save when a new patch rolls around. It's recommended you start fresh, but only because there's a chance that bad things can occur on the character. The patch may not fully function on an existing save, or it may introduce bugs that normally won't be there with a new save. Or it could break your game. But none of that is guarnteed to happen.

--EDIT--

Disregard the above. Missed the first line when I responded.

Anyway, it's unlikely that the devs can do this on such short notice... maybe it can be added once a DLC is released, but I don't see it happening for a patch.

Forgot to add that such feature could be of some use to people experiencing extreme issues due to his/her character being created on an early version of the game. If they do not wish to loose all the progress (leveling and loot) they made with that character and don't mind having they quest log cleared...
