How fast is the new undead mount?

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 5:31 am

I have rarely used the horses in Skyrim since they are so slow lol, but I have heard that the new undead mount in Dawnguard is really fast, is this true? I am also wondering... do you still get random encounters while on a Horse?

As fast as a normal Skyrim Horse. You have to remember he was a normal Skyrim horse once so he's tough but slow comparing with Cyrodiilic ones

But he can go places where normal horses may not.

Can I ride him in the Palace of Kings?

I'm pretty sure you can't summon him in places other horses can't go. I tried summoning him in the vale and he just wouldn't appear. It may just be to do with the animation and the different sound but I think he does go faster than the other horses. And he is definitely better for going up rocky cliffs.

Blackreach is marked as an outdoors area so it may very well be possible.

You should be able to summon him in any area that you can storm call... in theory

Arvak is great because he can die infinitely and you can just resummon him, unlike Shadowmere who takes days to respawn. Plus, Arvak isn't evil so any character can ride him.

I just started a Necromancer build and Arvak is definitely the horse for that. I've found that his speed is like a normal horse, but it's the aesthetic looks that really make him work for me. :D

What qualifies something for looking evil? Blue/Purple flaming Skeleton Horse? Perfectly nice.

I don't see how he looks evil. When I look at Arvak, I just see a lost soul. When dealing with the undead, my standards for aesthetic appearance drops. If anything, I think he is like Durnehvir and likes the time he spends with me in Tamriel being able to see the world again. His owner keeps calling him a loyal and good horse, and I'll take his word for that.

I agree with you, I think he LOOKS EVIL, not evil himself.

Exactly , it's a fact that he looks undead.
That's why I won't use him.
