Few questions about Crossbows for Vampire Lords

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 5:49 am

By the way, I searched the forums and did not find the answers I was looking for.. So..

Alright, I joined the Vampires and I really want a Dwarven Crossbow now... I have a Steel Crossbow, but can it even compare to the Dwarven once upgraded?

Last, do I have to actually find the schematics if I have Dwarven Smithing, or is it automatically there? If its there already, would it be worth taking that perk for said Crossbow?

Is a fully upgraded Steel Crossbow worth using over a Dragonbone bow fully upgraded?

not really cept it's a crossbow which is good enough for me plus it has a knockback effect and faster shooting.

By faster shooting I meant with a preloaded arrow drawback time is longer.

Also, when you finish finish the quest line for the Vampires and do radiant quests until you get "Destroying The Dawnguard", you can go to the fortress to kill the leaders of the dawnguard, obviously. But, don't do it. Go in dual wielding pacify spells and you can buy bolts off them! Plus the new restoration spells! You can't go on with the radiant quests, though, so get a ton of bolts and all the spells, and finish the quest when you think you should... Also, you sadly can't do the Ancient Technology quests to get the crossbows... That makes me sad...

That's genius, I'm really mad that I went in and slaughtered all of them now. Wow.

You can get dwarven bolts by killing the dwarven spheres in the dwemer ruins. They drop 5-10 bolts per kill.

And it really worked, too. The only downside was that you can't get Dwarven Crossbows.

Seriously?! Now I have to go loot some dwemer ruins!

Vampire Lord form > Dwemer crossbow.

They're okay, but there's not a lot of difference end-game when you sneak one-shot virtually anything with a bow anyway.

Dawnguard get the buffed Crossbows.

Vampires get artifacts that super buff their normal form and Vampire Lord form.

All true. I love vampire lords, but I have been huge fans of the dwemer since Morrowind. Plus, with my alchemy and smithing skill, I just improve my Steel crossbow to do 750 damage and use my awesome enchanting skills to do whatever. I just like the looks! But VL is truly much better, sure. And thanks to temyr with the Dwarven bolts tip, I am happy, because I now have a better way of getting bolts despite my own tip!

I want both!

Though as a sneaky character I wanted a kick ass crossbow... Too bad they're so boring, daedric crossbows would have looked sweet.

Yes! I knew it must be possible! I really wanted those dang restoration spells and play the vamp side. Can I go in their at anytime and start calming? Or do I have to wait for that particular quest?

So stoked, seriously posted in like 4 different threads asking if it was possible and everyone said no.

Can anybody give me a damage comparison between the steel/dwarven crossbows?

You can go anytime, but you can only buy bolts and other things if you are on the "Destroying the Dawnguard" quest for the Volkihar Clan.
