How to find an item?

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 11:12 am

I'm looking for a street lamp in the CK. So I go into Solitude and I see the perfect one down the street from the blue palace. I can open the console and click on it, which should give me a number, but how is that cross referenced to the item in the CK.

Am I making this too difficult?

way to difficult. (sort of)
just open the cell that has the light you need and copy/paste it from there
"Slightpost01" is labelled with (000D8759) that should be the number you get within game
"CandleLanternwithCandle01" is labelled with (0002D847)

Each number can be used to filter for the item in the object window, so if you take the above number (0002D847) and type that into the filter, you would get one hit, the "CandleLanternwithCandle01"

Or... select the Reference for the object you want, select "Edit Base" to get its Editor ID, and put that into the filter.

A bit easier than using FormIDs.

Nice! I didn't think of using the number.

Thanks to both of you.
