The "Chaurus" cave statics... do they have a point?

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 2:49 am

EDIT: Obviously I mean "Falmer" cave statics. :)

So I'm making a cave, and I've noticed the vast majority of cave statics have a normal version, and a Falmer version (eg, there's CaveGHall2Way02 and CaveGHall2Way02Falmer). But, I can't figure out what differences, if any, there are between these two groups.

They look identical as far as I can tell. They all seem to have the same collision, and the same textures.

So, what's the point of them?

The falmer varients have a shader on them, just like the 'Snow' varients, etc, that covers the ceiling of the piece with the blue specs that you see in Falmer dungeons.

Probably a difference for the devs during development. Maybe they were assigned caves (or switched from person to person) and the name gave a hint of "This is supposed to be populated by Falmer."
Haha, I'd certainly hope they aren't swapping developers mid-dungeon-creation. Talk about a scattered artistic vision!

OHHHH, of course. It doesn't show up in the CK, so that never even occurred to me.

It does show up, you just have to change a setting, I don't remember what. It's either turning FX on, or depth biasing, or something. If you mess with stuff it shows up... Somehow. xD

Depth Biasing is the option needed :)
