Amulets and armor

Post » Mon Nov 19, 2012 8:35 am

I've noticed some amulets show over armor, and some do not. What controls this?

Thanks for any replies.

I'm guessing it has to do with what slots they occupy on the body, if I remember correctly. Specifically what slots the torso armor occupies. But I could be wrong.
Check the armor that "hides" the amulet in the CK and compare it to an armor that shows it.

EDIT: Looking in the CK at the Fur armor (Bandit armor in CK) and the Chef clothes (which I know for sure hides the amulet), particularly at the armor addon, you can see that the Chef torso occupies the amulet slot too, so that's why it doesn't show up. The Chef torso occupies the ring slot too.

Hmm, the armor I'm using blocks one amulet, but not the other, and doesn't take the amulet slot. I'll have to dig around, hopefully you've put me on the trail. Thank you.

You'll probably have to edit the model to change it. If you are going to "dig around", doing it in nifskope is probably the best idea if you haven't yet.

This too.
Open the armor in Nifskope. Select the NiTriShape(s) and expand it (them), select BSDismemberSkinInstance and look below in the Block Details. Expand Partitions and see what's written under BodyPart. You're looking for something that says SBP_32_BODY, SBP_34_FOREARMS, SBP_38_CALVES. This is for armor (chest piece).

Then look at the amulet(s) too. Particularly look at the one the armor replaces. Amulets should have SBP_35_AMULET in the Body Part.

Just compare the info in the .nif with with each other then with the data in the CK.

Maybe it's not the fact that the armor replaces the amulet. Maybe the amulet has improper Body Part set in the .nif and the actual model is invisible in-game.

Interesting, I will have a look. Vanilla amulets show up over this armor, but this modded amulet doesn't. I'm not great with NIFs but with your guidance there, I may be able to see what is going on. I will also export the vanilla amulets that I know show up and compare/contrast them to the mod amulet.

I appreciate the help.
